A visit to old Goa which is a short distance away from Panjim makes for a great morning or evening outing. The road to old Goa runs parallel to the Mandovi river which itself is lovely. The area in old Goa is full of churches from the Portuguese period. There are also some other lovely little buildings on the way.... More

Interesting visit to churches, three all within walking distance. However, note that the museum is closed on Fridays.

A walk around old Goa will show you both original and restored buildings that are in the original Portuguese style. Something different from the other large cities of India.

If you like architecture, old buildings and history, this is a nice place to visit. However Goa has choice of many like this in every area, so you have choice, nothing unique about this one. Just a nice place to see if you are in the area.

Took the bus from Panjim to Old Goa. Only 24 Rupees and easy from the bus station. Just asked someone and they told us which bus and it went soon after. Not that crowded and nice and clean. Conductor told us where to get off. Old Goa is a collection of old churches and religious buildings left by the Portuguese... More

It is a very relaxing and historically rich tour! The churches are beautiful and you can have serene walks along the city without much traffic distractions.

This place is amazing. Incredibly, it was once the largest city in Asia, but the Inquisition and disease caused the remaining population to move upriver to Panjim. The houses crumbled to nothing but the churches and cathedral remain in all their majesty. Wonderfully atmospheric and a place that has to be on your list
