One of the best island in Mumbai to visit the elephanta caves .Elephanta caves are the best example of the ancient architectue .The shiva statue is very nice.The surroundings are very beautiful.

You will really love the Boat ride and you get to see the vastness of Arabian sea and Bombay High. There are many small caves and each one of the them is beautiful. Do visit and have fun. Just beware of Monkeys.

You have to buy ticket for you at Gate Way of India. Many small ships/boats are there. No need for special or prior booking.

Near elephanta caves there are no hotels but lots of restaurants where you can take rest and the visit of elephanta caves for 4 to hours

There are lots (from memory, circa 70+) of steep steps to reach the plateau of the cave entrance. The locals do offer a sedan chair ride up, but not sure how comfortable / stable that would be. Don't forget it's also circa 1... More
