A Unesco world heritage attraction which will blow your mind. Huge caves furnished with statues all excavated in the mountain many centuries ago. Makes you wonder what it took and how long. Must-visit place, just be careful with the monkeys trying to steal your water...More

What a brilliant Architecture! The ferry ride is around 1 HR. One has to walk 30 min to reach caves. When you reach and see the wonderful architecture you are spell bound . Preferably take a guide

The workmanship in this cave doesn't get the notoriety that it deserves. Disappointed that I never heard about it until coming to Mumbai. If this is the only thing you get to see while you are in Mumbai, it will be worth it. The boat...More

The ferry ride from Gateway of india costs a mere 180 rupees and is the most worthwhile thing about Elephanta Caves. Try to take the ferry around 3PM, so that you are on the way back when the sun sets.

We were going to visit this on our own, but then hired a local guide on the island. Very wise choice as we would not have understood any of the carvings and rooms without his wonderful explanation and bits of history.

Great experience, take ferry from near Taj Hotel to Elephanta Island. Lots of stairs to get to the caves. What a sight to see these carvings from 3 different religions...

You have to buy ticket for you at Gate Way of India. Many small ships/boats are there. No need for special or prior booking.
