    Divine !!
Besise being of historical and spritual importance, this beautifult temple is the holiest site of Sikhism. The beauty of this temple is that people of all faith can visit it without any discrimination. The entire complex also includes Akal Takht, Clock Tower, Museum and Langar wher free vegetarian meals are proveded to everyone. When we reached in the afternoon, there was a big queue and very very hot. We did Parikrama (went on all four sides of temple) and took Karawa (prasad). One can feel the positive vibe inside the complex. It's really maintained very well.

    Extremely enlightening and spiritual
Mind blowing experience. Such an amazing and serene place, which made me feel good just to be human. It is a major centre for the Sikh religion, and besides that it is a beautiful structure anyway. You need to cover your head, and no shorts allowed. Unlike other reviewers, my experience was entirely cordial and polite. I did go in shorts, and the security guy at the entrance told me very politely that this was not allowed, and he went on to give me a solution - which was to borrow a garment from one of the footwear check in windows. Yes no footwear inside either. The place is enchanting. We went to the langar and were served beautiful food. Then a volunteer kindly showed us round the kitchen and behind the scenes, which was really interesting. Stayed till after dark and saw it all lit up. I must emphasise - everyone was extremely polite and helpful, there was no rudeness from security or anyone else (unlike other reviewers' reports). I will definitely come again

    Stunning temple
The visit to the Golden Temple was wonderful. Even though it is crowded there is more than enough space to move around and get some wonderful photos. The highlight was visiting the community kitchen which feeds 100000 people a day and is entirely staffed by volunteers. It is an amazing sight to behold.

    A spiritual place
A holy and spiritual place for Sikh religions, actual name is Harmandir Sahib. We visited during morning time. Really must visit place for all of one. You will find divine tranquility after visiting Golden temple. We had waited approx 2 hour to visit inside of Harmandir Sahib. We had took karah prasad and free meal. Their management is very systematic in langar. If you wish you can donate any amount. This is not only destination, it's divine destination. I eagerly waiting for next visit during night.

    A Soul-stirring Journey
The Golden Temple in Amritsar is truly awe-inspiring. Its majestic architecture, serene surroundings, and the shimmering reflection in the Amrit Sarovar create a deeply spiritual atmosphere. The devotion and hospitality of the volunteers serving in the langar (community kitchen) add a unique touch to the experience. A visit to the Temple is not just a sightseeing endeavor but a soul-stirring journey that leaves a lasting impression.

    Golden Temple, Amritsar
We arrived in Amritsar early evening and went to the Golden Temple to see it at night. Amazing. Very well organised. Beautiful sight. We ate there too (langar). Food simple and delicious. We returned at 4am for the arrival of the book. Even though it was still dark, it looked different. By the time we left, it was dawn. I would say you should see the Golden Temple by day and by night.

    A Must visit
Absolutely awesome to visit and soak in the atmosphere. Drop off and pick up can be a nightmare when visiting. Barefoot to visit is ok but freezing in winter. Mats to walk on could do with more regular changing as they get soaking wet.

You cannot come to Amritsar and not come here. Go early morning or in the middle of the night when it is quieter.
This is Amritsar. You cannot come to Amritsar and not come here! Well managed despite how busy it is. Footwear must be removed. They will give you a token and your shoes will be stored safely. You cannot wear socks or anything that covers your feet. Hands and feet must be washed before entering. Carry as little as possible. Stunning and huge inside. So many different parts. I went twice. It was way too busy in the afternoon. Go at a quieter time like early morning or the middle of the night (open 24 hours). The second time I went was early morning which was much quieter and you could appreciate the beauty. Head must be covered and legs. I would highly recommend eating at the world's largest community kitchen 'Langar Hall'. Food was basic but delicious and it was nice to sit together and eat with the locals and others, all equal. To enter inside the actual Golden Temple, lines are long and hence go early or you may wait a few hours. Be respectful. I am not Sikh so just follow others if unsure what to do. This is a very religious place for followers of Sikhism

Went here as part of our tour. My wife an I were simply blown away with this place. The Temple is stunning to look at. We went there with our guide during the day then returned in the evening on our own. It is free to enter. On our morning visit we started by walking around the lake simply soaking in everything. You have to remove your shoes before entering. There is a place to deposit them. We were then shown the kitchen area where food is prepared for hundreds of people on a daily basis. This in itself is absolutely fascinating to watch. We then visited the food Hall where people eat for free sitting on the floor in long rows.. We then had to queue for about 20 minutes to enter the temple itself. This was quite emotional as we walked around inside. The very book that is part of the Sikh religion was there under a cover. You are not allowed to take photos or dwell for too long inside it was simply amazing.
We returned to the Temple in the evening after dark to see the grounds and Temple all lit up. This place looked so different at night. It was stunning.
You are not allowed to take photos once in the grounds and there are security people who try and enforce this. However, if you are discreet and are not spotted you can get some amazing shots of the Temple and surroundings. As I said before once inside the Temple the no photos rule is very strictly enforced.
We would definitely recommend visiting here.

I had two wonderful days in the golden temple of amritsar. In the evening of the First day by random I met Varinder Nashid (Winni), a volunteer in the temple. He showed me the whole temple with all its buildings, even though, naturelement, the golden temple. There we got easy access without long waiting time. Very impressing was a glance behind the scenery. Hi showed me the preparing of the food by hundreds of volunteers, the gigantic huge pots for boiling and cooking, underneath were big fire ovens, in which other volunteers packend huge amount of fire wood, not small bricks as you would image, no, big ones as trunk of trees. Yes, and in fact, the they put big trunks into the big ovens.
The langer hall is one of the places where the visitor get their meal, which is for free, but it is more or less intensively exspected to spend some money. Even though a very great number of visitors has been there the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful.
The volunteers are friendly and helpful so i enjoyd it very much.
Tank You Varinder !!

I would call it eighth wonder of world. We visited it after dusk and probably it's the best
Time to visit the place. In the evening the temple looks very beautiful, the view is breath taking. We had to stand in the queue though for half an hour so but it will always take that much time because of crowd. December is not a very good time to visit as it is so cold in this month. Parking is available near the temple but it's usually full. Golden Temple must be in your wishlist of travel list.

A spiritual paradise, firstly this is not a tourist spot so don’t feel bad if you are stopped from clicking pictures. This is a spiritual place for Sikhs which welcome everyone irrespective of cast colour or religion and people come down to pray. Please respect the traditions, culture and the rules and no one will say anything… the best time to visit is early morning before parkash and do seva for palki sahib. This place is open 24*7 and you can always enjoy a hot veg meal at free community kitchen.. I would recommend you to sit down and listen to kirtan for some time By finding a comfortable spot either at inner parkarma or outer parkarma. This is the religious center for Sikhs so please respect the sanctity of the place and make sure you are not indulging in selfies or video shoots as you would be stopped with force and this will disturb you and others nearby who would be praying in peace…

A beautiful ornate temple in a lovely setting. I would recommend to get a guide so that you don't miss out on the history and detail. Try to avoid weekends and/or Hindu god birthdays as the queue to get in will be massive (I don't have much patience I am afraid). Don't forget to go round the museum and the kitchens where they serve up to 50,000 people 24 hours per day - an amazing operation run by volunteers (look out for the 5 chapati making machines that can churn out 20,000 chapatis per hour at peak times !). Obviously, this is a "must do" - why else would you be here !

The Golden Temple is very important to Sikhs; similar to Mecca for Muslems or the Vatican for Roman Catholics. However, you don't have to be a Sikh to be impressed by the Temple and its surrounding complex. We visited during the day and thought it was spectacular and went back in the evening and, with the lights, it was even more spectacular.

With over 100,000 visitors a day, the Golden Temple is a very busy place. The "langer", or community kitchen, provides free meals to anyone who wants one 24 hours a day - about 100,000 meals a day.

Visiting requires a bit of a hike because vehicles are not permitted in the area surrounding the complex. Then, it's shoes and socks off as the visit will be barefoot.

The temple is in the middle of a large pool that is surrounded by associated buildings. A visit to the interior of the Golden Temple will require joining a very long line that could require one or two hours before a brief visit. That's in addition to walking around the complex to enjoy its wonderful exterior appearance. Allow 1 - 2 hours for a visit plus the time required to stand in line if you want to enter the Golden Temple. We were more than satisfied with our viewing of the complex without joining the line to enter the temple.

I have never seen the Golden Temple anything but crowded. There is always thousands of people here from nearby local visitors to tourists from across the globe. But despite this crowd, there is a peaceful environment inside which is difficult to match or fathom.

The moment you step inside this gurudwara you are bound to feel calm and serene. It hardly matters whether you are a Sikh or not, your mind suddenly takes a spiritual bend and you are at peace with your inner self.

Over the years facilities in and around the temple have been improved dramatically making it a more comfortable experience for visitors. Direct access via any vehicles even till the main entrance is now prohibited and you have to walk a bit to get to the temple and then a bit more walking once you get inside to take a complete round around the sarovar and then enter the inner shrine.

The karha (prasad) and langar inside are tasty and not to be missed. The community kitchen runs 24X7 despite being one of the biggest of its kind in the world, serving food to thousands and thousand daily.

No shoes or socks allowed inside the temple and your head needs to be covered at all times. Due to the continuous flow of devotees and tourists expect to spend at least an hour inside if you want to do darshan of the main Takht. But its an experience of a lifetime which needs to be repeated every year. So don't miss it for anything in the world.

It was my great experience to visit the Golden Temple...
The Golden Temple is well-known throughout the world as the supreme religious place of Sikhism. There are four gates here which are reflective of the fact that the doors of Sikhs are open to people of every religion. The structure of the gurudwara is very beautiful. Gurudwara made of marble and gold is a symbol of very amazing art. The environment here is very clean and tidy. Followers of Sikhism serve the devotees who come here with a lot of heart. Thousands of people take food in Prasad every day in the Guru's langar here.

Sri Harimandir Sahib (Golden Temple) has four gates. One of these gates is by Guru Ram Das Sarai. There are many rest places in this inn. Along with the resting places, the langar runs here for twenty-four hours, in which one can receive the offerings. There are many shrines in Sri Harimandir Sahib. Of these, the Berry tree is also considered a place of pilgrimage. It is known as Ber Baba Budha. It is said that when the Golden Temple was being built, Baba Budha ji was sitting under this tree and was monitoring the construction work of the temple.

We travelled from Dharmsala by car to Amritsar, over rough terrain at times, and arrived at our destination seven hours later. Having consumed a meal at the hotel, we made our way to the Golden Temple, which was a ten-minute walk.
As we entered the temple, one gets peacefulness and tranquility even though the shrine attracts thousands of pilgrims and tourists throughout the day. We were fortunate the crowds had dispersed as we removed our footwear, washed our feet, and walked past the bustling food halls.
Even though we refused the meal, the guards and volunteers made us feel genuinely welcome, and their hospitality and devotion were unsurpassed.
As we headed in the direction of the lake, in the distance, we had a glimpse of the Golden temple, shimmering in gold and glittering in the moonlight. We decide to rest on the spotlessly clean marble and admire the temple at a distance.
As we sat on the spotlessly clean marble floor gazing across the artificial lake, we focused on the Golden temple that was glittering in the moonlight, and the reflection in the water was something special. I learned that the temple was built about five hundred years ago, destroyed many times by invading armies, as recently as 1984, but has been steadfastly rebuilt and a jewel of Hindu-Muslim architecture. The entire temple is rich with intricate carvings and precious stones, while the top is paved with pure gold. Inside the temple, there is constant chanting to the accompaniment flutes, drums, and stringed instruments.
Some advice for non-Sikhs visiting the Golden Temple: Ensure there is a head covering and slacks for the men. Women should be very modestly dressed from head down to toe.
This is a historic site, and a visit is strongly recommended. Visited 2010.

We went there in the month of December, when it was raining and the temperature that time was between 8 degrees to 13 degree. It was extremely cold. When you enter the lane to go to golden temple there was many people attaching you to offer you tour of wagha border, offer you rooms which are cheap in rate, etc.
The inside of the golden temple is go amazing, peaceful place. They also have langar wher you get free food to eat which is amazing.
