Beautiful and a very peaceful wat. Adjacent to newer temple and another old wat in restoration.
What I like most:-
1. The reclining Buddha
2. Naga [snake] Buddha statue - believed to protect Buddha while meditation.
3. Sleeping Buddha
4. Prang Prathan - the beautiful white monument
Drop by near sunset, worth it.

Visited on a day when no other people were around. Met four other people on whole hour long visit. The Wat is only a partial ruin and therefore provides a much better illustration of the scale of what a 'working' Wat would have been like all those years ago. Worth the joureny across the bridge.

Wat Phutthaisawan is located outside the 'island' of Ayutthaya, not far from Wat Chai Wattanaram.
Best way to go there is by bicycle (or TukTuk) or by boat.
If you have seen or passed Wat Chai Wattanaram, continue on the small road, after one kilometre take a left, everything is sign-posted.
St.Joseph's church on your left, the temple comes into sight with its two huge white towers (prangs), one old, one new.
This is special about this temple, there is an old -unused- temple to the back which is the impressive one, but in the front where there's parking is a working temple.
Don't forget to walk to the very end, exit the old temple's structure onto a lawn to your right, you'll find a beautiful reclining buddha enclosed by partly destroyed brick walls.
If you're lucky you'll be the only one out here.

It's just across the river of our hotel, but we need to take a bike for few kilometers to get there. The temple itself is the place to quiet your soul. Each stone, each part of the construction reflects the age. There is almost no tourist there so U might enjoy the time there alone...

This Wat is not centrally located and you'll need a bike or taxi to get there. It's worth it, though. I enjoyed seeing the other reclining Buddha statue as well as the main prang/stupa, which happens to be open for viewing. Careful, though, bats hang from the ceiling and their droppings are everywhere! The grounds are fairly big and there is an active temple there.

This Wat was great for photographers - the reclining Buddha the rows of gold Buddhas encircling the central stupa and the stupa itself.

It was my least favorite of the three quick stops we made on our boat tour. The site was somewhat sprawling and confusing. There were some ruins at the far end and a large white pagoda surrounded by Buddha images in a courtyard.

If you have soe extra time this might be a good way to kill some time. I particularly liked the five statues of the various Kings from the period.
