Lanta Old Town is a small village on Ko Lanta's East Coast in Krabi Province. Many years ago, Ko Lanta's Old Town acted as the port and commercial center for the island and provided safe harbor for Arabic and Chinese trading vessels sailing between the larger ports of Phuket, Penang and Singapore. Today, Old Town is the district capital; it has a post office, police station, Buddhist temple, Chinese temple and the island's hospital as well as a long pier.

The old town was OK it felt like another market tbh the pier was nice though and the ride I took to get there (long beach) was a scenic enough ride!

Kind of a must go but wasn't so good as we thought. Water was dirty looking an the houses aren't really in a good shape. Clothes and drinks were cheaper than Saladan. Not a place for me but was a worth of driving with a scooter ower there

We hired mopeds as we were staying on the other side of the island. The town itself is very small but has some sweeping views of the island. Very interesting to watch the fisherman go out onto the mudflats to find mollusks. There are several restaurants built on stilts that look over the mudflats, we stumbled upon one that served... It is not a whole day excursion but do take a Tuk Tuk or scooter and walk around, shop and have a lovely lunch. It is a world away from the seaside west coast and a pleasant change. Prices are not too high and there is a good range of shops , cafes and restaurants. The museum was closed (... More

It's what it says on the tin. An old traditional town with lots of quaint shops, bars and restaurants. Completely different to the busier towns on the west coast

It's a nice motorbike drive from the west side where the most accomodations are. You get to see some nice country side while traveling here. The Old Town has some nice shops, I recommend the Hammock House! Many restaurants too. Still it's somewhat dirty and much smaller than I expected. Still worth a visit.

After a few days in koh lanta we decide to visit the old town as suggested. Mainly the old town is a 300meters, maybe less, where on right and left of the street you have restaurants and shop of typical objects and souvenir. Both very nice, interesting the Buddha temple 300 meters nord ovest of the main road. That's it,... More

We spent a day wandering around this very unspoilt town. There are several great eateries serving wonderful local cuisine and fresh fish and fresh fruit juices. We looked at t several accommodation options ..all very very good and clean. It's a lovely place to just leisurely wander along the Main Street looking at the local shops. There is an amazing... The clothes and crafts there are the cheapest. Dine in one of those restaurant with deck over water. They also have swing which makes you feel like flying into water.....
