I was very shocked and offended about our trip with Sail Rock Divers. I was there with my girlfriend, her sister and her sisters husband trying diving for the first time. We got an diving instructor named Valerio who did not do his job professionally. He touched my girlfriend on the leg, arm and waist numerous times and held longer than a friendly hold. He made comments about how beautiful my girlfriend and her sister was to me and was overall creepy. He tried to talk to her and touched her when i was not around I heard afterwards and every time he was telling us some info he only looked to my girlfriend and kept staring after he finished talking. He joked that he would hold my girlfriends hand under the water but "he would not dare because Im so tall and big". Its sad that an employee can ruin your experience that I very much looked forward too but unfortunately this is how it was. So if you are planning on diving with this company ask to not get Valerio as an instructor, especially if you are with you`re girlfriend.

Dirty toilets, dirty swimming pool, ugly dirty slow boat, it's paint was peeling. they made me wait ages to do the dive master tests & did not give me the certification card. Staff jealous of a model.

I wonder why it's in the list of koh tao dive spot because it's much closer to koh phan gan. From koh tao it's such a long trip.
If the sea is not so flat you may be seasick before to reach the place.
Boat from koh tao don't often go there and are not so specialized for this dive spot like the dive shop of koh phan gan.
The visibility was less than 5 m when I dived there, ridiculous! There was no others boat from koh phan gan when we stay there, probably because they knew better it was not worth diving there that day.

I have done Sail Rock many times both with incredible bad visibility and 30 meter clear visibility. No matter the conditions, there are always something to see. The rock itself is quite interesting with a so called: "Chimney" which is an interesting place and rock formation and for Advance divers it is possible to descend through it. The dive site have amazing groupers, different big schools of fishes such as chevron and yellowtail barracudas, batfish (probably the biggest school of all the dive sites) and there are also a chance to see great barracudas as well as 'the big guy' aka. whaleshark, Sail Rock is by far if not the best dive site then the second best (I really love Chumpon Pinnacle) in the Gulf of Thailand.
The only tiny downside is that Sail Rock is a bit far from Koh Tao, however, I personally find the trip to be part of the whole experience and I always have a great time when going with Scuba Shack, its team and fellow divers.

have been diving several times there - boat ride quiet long and tiring, but pays off with a fantastic dive, 38m +, so you can dive there ! lots of fish and whale shark regular when there is the season for it !

One of the most incredible experiences of my life. There were rumours of a Whale Shark in the area but as the boat was approaching Sail Rock the shout went out and we all leapt overboard. Truly magnificent creatures and all of the divers left this amazing creature alone. It did however decide it wanted to play in the bubbles from our tanks. Awsome.

I did the one day boat trip to Sail Rock in July 2019, and was amazed at the excellent diving. Millions of fish, tuna, barracuda, and a whale shark (15' long, litle guy). I highly recommend Sail Rock as a dive location if you are in the Koh Tao, Thailand area.

Quite a variety of marine life & loved the moments of either watching schools of fish drift by in unison , being enveloped by a school of trevally fish and that moment of looking above and below seeing fish, coral & fellow divers above and below and feeling like the frogman in the aquarium from childhood.
I am quite a newbie and was on an Open Water certification course but from what I read & saw there is something for all levels from experienced divers to those having a relaxed snorkel.
Defo a trip to add to the "to do" list.

Great dive site, I was there 2018. Did 2 dive trips there and on the second trip a whale shark came through and stayed awhile. Best moment in diving.

Wondering what the dive conditions are like this time of year. Would like to plan a dive for March 11/12.
