- DanyCalgary, Canada141 contributionsTypical Thailand beach with garbage and sewageSmells like sewage and plenty of garbage in and around the water. The diving boats drop liters upon liters of oil into the water everyday so you are swimming in that as well. The restaurants and bars along the beach are pretty low quality catering to drunk teenagers. Overall, it's your typical Thai beach. Don't go with high expectations.Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten January 30, 2024
- sunset seekerChester, United Kingdom99 contributionsBuzzy not busyJust loved everything about this place. The vibe was buzzy without being busy. Plenty of hotels and restaurants of various types from luxury to backpacker along the beach. Clean sand. Clear water what’s not to love?Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten February 25, 2024
- foxyloxeySelby, United Kingdom253 contributionsOnce was enough.I'm reviewing the place in general not just the beach. Im staying in a lovely villa up on the hill with a stunning view and our own infinity pool, brilliant. The beach is lovely fine sand with quite a bit of plastic pollution though, the sea is really warm. It the bit between, can't stand it, scuffy, crowded, mopeds everywhere, I'm just too old maybe. It's just not what I expected. Some of the restaurants are good and are in a great spot for tables with stunning views. When you get off the ferry expect the taxis to fleece you, 400bht for a 1.3km journey, haggled to 300bht. All the prices are tourist rates, big step up from Bangkok.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten July 28, 2024

Even though it has a lot of hotels around, it still feels nice and chilled. Obviously you can’t expect the exclusive and remote vibe on this beach but the waters are clear, plenty of shops and bars around, a great sunset and if you go to the far end you can have good snorkelling along the rocks.
Not the best beach in Koh Tao but the best place if what you want to do is diving (almost all the operators are located there with the trips departing from the beach) and use it as a hub to then go around.

I stayed at Blue Tao Beach Hotel along Sairee Beach during my time in Koh Tao.
There are a few restaurants that's open during this covid time. it would have been a lot better in normal time.
the beach around my hotel was very clean and there r a few diving shops that's open.
the beach is facing west so u will be catching very nice sunset over the sea in the evening.
the hotels have beach chairs, standing surfboards which are rented by the hour.
u have to pay for these if u want to use them.

When you arrive at this idylic looking island , the small port , enticing bars and more , your feelings rise to a new high , having travelled for certainly a few days across land by bus sea and train , not excluding your long haul flight .
Sure take it all in , relax have a beer think about getting her between the sheets later , why not, its natural . Book in , take a stroll , but what beach , hey , no probs have many , check out a beach bar , which one , no probs plenty
Now google the history of the island , a what , ' penal colony ' , well hey thats makes it all the more intriquing right .
Now walk that beach , having read the history , that sure will freak you out, but hey your barve . Sure need to be there .

Nice beach but dirty, smelly and the only place on Koh Tao where I saw a fresh “log” in the water. To be fair could have been deposited by one of the many dogs.
Nowhere to sit comfortably - unless you like crowds, noise and drain smells - don’t bother

Long, main beach of the island. It's where most of the nightlife, restaurants and bars are. If you've travelled around, you've seen the same thing in most islands.
This is more low key, a less developed island and main beach. Great places to chill or party, whatever you're into.

Accommodations on sairee Bach! What would you recommend?

Sairee Cottages!!! DEFINITELY NOT SEASHELL RESORT. The Cottages were awesome, make sure you get a room with AC. There are 2 pools, the restaurant on the beach is actually really good. The cafe is good too! It’s a good location too because it’s not beside any bars so it’s quiet at night but still close enough to a lot of the restaurants and bars to have a good time. Poolside rooms were awesome, small but clean and new.

Hey everyone! Is there a place close to the Lotus Bar that offers lounge chair rentals? Kind of like a beach club? I saw Maya Beach Club, but would like to know if there's anything a bit north of there on Sairee. Ideally closer to lotus as mentioned. Thank you!

Grazie a chi mi aiuterà.
