I travelled with my boyfriend and my sister to Can Tho the last 2nd September 2013, and even if it was public holiday in Vietnam, EDEN our vietnamese guide took us around Can Tho city to enjoy the best and cheapest food in town.

I believe the Can Tho Food tour is only at night and meets at a hotel in Can Tho. It starts 6:30pm, lasts for a few hours, and is a walking tour so I don't think there is any transportation back to Saigon. I would recommend you stay in Can Tho for a couple of nights to do the Mekong River Tour during the morning/day and enjoy the CanTho Food tour on one of the nights. Can Tho to Saigon is about a 3-4 hour bus ride, so it would be a very tiring day to go back and forth.

I stayed in the Hotel that's organising it, the Xoai Hotel. If you cannot find any email address just drop during the day to sign up for the tour. But since they are not very busy with tourists at the moment you should actually be fine with just turning up before the tour starts. Have fun - it's a great tour!
