- Your Travel Buddy SGSingapore, Singapore32,143 contributionsHistorical siteUnderstand from the guide that this place used to be the city instead of Hanoi of northern Vietnam. The palace was seated on a strategic plain for defense purposes. As such, we could see the mountains located behind and the river right in front. There were a few historical temples here as well, worshipping the old kings I supposed (understood from the tour guide). If you are into historical architecture, I’m sure you would like this place. Not a really big place. I remembered we took about an hour going to the different structures located within the compound.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten June 20, 2024
- Russ LacuataLong Beach, California9,706 contributionsFeng Shui ArchitectureKing Dinh Tien Hoang marked an independent and unification age of Vietnam resulting in the love, admiration of the people for him. The temple is the only places devoted to his entire family and generals. The Temple is well preserved national treasures that still retains a lot of Vietnamese traditional styles. Dinh Tien Hoang Temple has followed the strict architectural rules based on Feng Shui. A Chinese philosophical system of harmonizing people with the environment around.Visited September 2024Travelled soloWritten September 3, 2024

We went with a guide which helped a lot. It gave it meaning with a few history lessons thrown in which was quite interesting. Without a guide it would have been a waste of time for us. Not a long visit and it was actually quite crowded. Just a short walk away across the rood - Tuyet Tinh Coc is well worth visiting. No tourists there, we had it to ourselves and really enjoyed.

The place is huge, I remember it is a lot of Walking. It is a worthwhile place to visit. There was a lot of trees for shade. It was very nice. We enjoyed or visit. It takes time to see and we were very tired when we finally finished.

A slice of Vietnamese history dedicated to the Dinh (968-980) and Le (980-1009) dynasties. Explanation of the movement of the capital from here to Hanoi. On the other hand, nothing about the life of the population at that time. Was she enslaved as the kings did in France? This aspect is passed over in silence, of course. Damage.

An informative visit. The explanation boards were good and there was ample opportunity to take photos.

It's a fair place to learn something about vientnamese history, but more from your guide rather than from what you see. Plus, there's a flood of tourist groups, so you don't get to see much.

This is very old and not too shiny, but it is a wonderful look into the past of Vietnam history and architecture.

Hoa Lu was cool to hear about the history, but that’s it. It was pretty boring of a site. Would rather spend time visiting another destination in combination with Tam Coc- which is soo beautiful it makes this day tour worth it! Tam Coc is great.

I came to this place in a wet season, which was in effect of a storm nearby. One thing I was pity, I didnt come to the real monument of Dinh Tien Hoang, the King of Đinh dynasty, because it needed me to climb on a mountain, which was slippery. So I came to these temples. you dont know how I feel when I saw these. It was respective, ancient and peaceful. If you like history, this will be a best place.

We finally found this area on our scooter and were met by a little girl who wanted to show us one of the temples and practise her english. She walked around with us for a little while and then left us. There are a couple of temples to see which were actually very beautiful inside and we walked up the hill to the left of the main temple by the bridge and got to see quite a good view of the area of the old capital. Theres not much else there now but we also had a quick look at the archeology exhibition which was quite interesting. Don't need long here just an hour.
