Kehen was the state temple of Bangli Kingdom with very great importance in old time. Here Bangli kings and ministers were sworn. Look at the handsome entrance gate decorated with dozens of heroes from Ramayana and Mahabarata epics, and the excellent carvings on the entrance gate.

Visited Pura Kehen on October 10th, 2016. There was a religious ceremony being held there at the time so I got a chance to see how very interesting the ceremony was (even only for a short moment). The temple itself wasn't really big but on the other hand it was quiet and serene and really represented itself as a place... More

This is one of the most beautiful temples of Bali with magnificent entrance gates decorated by lovely carvings flanked by heroes statues. In the second courtyard don't miss the huge banyan tree with a wooden bell building in her branches. Chinese ceramic adorning the inner wall testify the long commercial relation between Bali and China. Most of the base of... More

On the Northern part of Bangli is localized an old temple. From the front side of the temple you can witness huge view of the hillslopes

Had a very enjoyable visit here during a day tour from Sanur. This spot was recommended by my driver. The temple has some outstanding artistry in the monuments and carvings, and the grounds in general are well designed and maintained. This is a good spot to stop by during a tour, particularly for those tourists who enjoy temples and culture.

When we were doing our research on Bali, the names that kept cropping up were Tanah Lot and Uluwatu temples. Then a few of the lesser ones like Taman Ayun and Ulun Danu Batur. But Pura Kehen was one that pinged very late on our radar and we are just thankful that it did. This is an absolutely stunning 11th... More

What a change from the hassle of visiting some of the more popular temples! Very few visitors (why?) And only two ladies outside trying to sell goods. Entrance fee to the car-park included sarongs to borrow which was a nice change from other temples. Really helpful guide inside who took us around the temple, gave great explanations and didn't pressure... More

This fairly ancient temple is a bit off the tourist track and is quiet. The entrance way is magnificent and inner courtyards and very nice. Look out for the kulkul sitting in the banyan tree, and the throne in the inner courtyard. Worth a visit.
