We rented a motorbike and drove all the way towards the end of the sea of sand ! the rustic barren scenery with lava sand makes this sand sea savanna a must-visit experience. As we were travelling on our own, we did not have any time restriction, and spent a good amount of time soaking into this beautiful landscape. Dont... More

This sand sea savanna looks like a highlander somewhere in Europe, the clouds are over the hills, this place is huge and just so amazing! I heard that you can set up a tent and stay there, I wish I did that! There are horses that can take you to bromo but you can walk for approximately 25 minutes! And... More

The whisperind sounds came from the sand blown by the wind. It a very black coarse sand hence producing the hissing sound. This is just a stop over on our drive back to the hotel. Great for picture of the surrounding. You can still see the bromos steam.

You need to cross the sand by 4 wheel drive to reach Mt Bromo and the caldera. Depending on the volcano you are sometimes unable to get to the rim. The drive across is very dusty and looks like you might imagine the surface of the moon to be. I found it best to see the sea of sand from... More

The sea of sand needs to be crossed to arrive at Mt Bromo and the caldera. It is a large area of volcanic sand and ash and gets very dusty when dry. We luckily went after a small shower the night before and the dust had settled. You can walk across it or the better option ride a horse.

Really nice walk along the sea of sand to reach Mt Bromo . Some people opted for a motorbike or horse to get them through it but personally use your legs and take your time, the ground is quite in even and at night/ early hours of the morning a touch was needed

It was a first time unique experience for us walking through the Sand Sea to get to Mount Bromo as when it rained, we could feel sand it the raindrops coming down on us! It was a strange feeling.
