Beautiful erosion crater in Mitzpe Ramon. Definitely recommend if you are in the area- we did a Jeep tour with Deep Desert Israel.

The best way to view the crater is by joining a jeep tour. It's rough terrain, but worth getting to the top for tremendous views. It is the world's largest Makhtesh, a crater caused by erosion and not a meteor or volcanic eruption.

It's not the first time that I've been here, but it amazes again- it's like looking out at the primordial beginning- so vast and expansive... and empty. Take your time, go at different times of the day and night... and breathe deeply.... and don't fall...More

I recommend being at the machtesh's edge at sunrise. It's breath-taking. Try some of the hiking trails, too. We drove down to see The Carpentry, which is a fascinating geological feature on the floor of the crater. You drive down, and then turn right at...More

We stayed at the lovely Beresheet hotel and drove our rental down into the Crater. A word of caution that not all vehicles would be well suited to the dirt road to look at the Ammonite wall. Our SUV was struggling and the thought of...More

Stunning any time of day.. Even if you dont hike, climb or walk too far. The viewing platform offers a great view of the crater as does the nice walk along the "Albert Promenade". All kinds of offers at the Visitors center.

We booked a 2 hour tour through Ramon Crater Tours. Our driver and guide, Gal was informative and had a good sense of humor. The ride takes you up very steep hills into the mountain atop the crater. The ride can be rough, but we...More

Ein Gedi is a beautiful place near the Dead Sea. It was one of our favourite places that we hiked. You will need a couple of days (minimum) for Jerusalem. Take the tunnels, go to Yad Vashem, the Israel Museum (you could... More
