Yes, the caves of Pak Ou are interesting but should only be visited by boat on the Mekong River. Otherwise the roughly one hour plus car or van ride to see the caves by using dirty and dusty roads will be a waste of time....More

There are 2 caves with a lot of statues. The main cave can be reached via steep stairs. Except for the statues, there is nothing else to see.

we went in standard everyday clothing. caves are very safe. steps are a bit of a trek.

I didn't go for Kayaking as flow of river was strong. But there is public transport ferry that leaves at 8.30 am every morning from main Pier. To and fro Charges are 60000 LAK per person.
