Turtle island park is an amazing, moving and educational once in a lifetime experience. It is an experience we will never forget and are so glad to have seen. The day starts off with the boat from the jetty in Sandakan, to which you are transferred to the Turtle Island Park. You spend the day sunbathing, snorkelling or just chilling... More

After dinner we waited for a call 'Turtle' and we all filed out following the guide who led us to a lonely spot where we saw a turtle laying eggs. The ranger collected the eggs which were taken to an artificial hatchery. Later we were privileged to see the release of about 30 new born hatchlings back to the sea.... More

We left KK on an early morning flight and were picked up by our guide then hoped on the boat for a 1hour boat ride over to the island. We didn't have a beautiful sunny day and it would have been much nicer if we did. It was pretty average seeing the turtles laying the eggs as we were in... More

After a 45 minutes boat ride from Sandaka, you are greeted with the sight of a small island. The island itself is very small, it takes less than 35 mins to walk around the circumference. The rooms are dingy and small- but surprisingly with air conditioning. However there is no hotwater- despite a small water heater. You are basically waiting... More

Booked through I think sepilok/sandakan tropical wildlife adventures and had a brilliant guide Elod who was very knowledgable and funny. The price was very expensive though but the experience was amazing! We had to wait til 10.30pm at night for a turtle and we all rushed out to the beach in the thunder, lightning and heaviest rain I have ever... More

The island works to preserve sea turtle eggs so they can hatch and survive against high odds. Lovely beach. Money spent is going to a wonderful cause.

As others say, this really is a fantastic experience. After an afternoon spent snorkelling (lots to see including numerous clown fish) and messing around on the beach we waited in the restaurant for "turtle time". At about 9pm the fourteen of us staying on the island were directed towards the beach to see a green turtle laying eggs and later... More

This really is a chance to experience something that most people will never see. Contrary to previous reviews( from people who didn't go) the rangers were very strict and no one was allowed to touch the turtles. We spent a brief time watching her laying eggs and then no one was allowed near as she made her way back to... More

You need to go. Stop everything and book it. We booked it in person (versus through a travel agent) and saved a bunch of money. Spend time snorkeling during the day (while you're waiting for nightfall) Be prepared to be up late! And the next day in the morning as soon as 6am arrives get out there and walk around,... More

This was for us the best experience we had in Borneo. It really is a beautiful island and it's just amazing to see these wonderful creatures. We booked through Borneo Nature tours and I think we were lucky to get a place for 5 as it gets booked months in advance. We planned our whole trip around this one night... More
