It was a cool experience to visit some famous movie sets which may be a bit old but still impressive. I especially liked the guide (who was nice and funny). Cost of 50 Moroccan DHS was not bad. Don't expect anything too new but you can still get to see how movie studios continuously use sets for different movies and... More

Take the tour with the Atlas Film studios. The decors are amazing! Famous films have been shot here (or parts of them) even ones you would not expect to be shot in the desert.

The Atlas Studio's are nice to see but the last good movie has been filmed nearly 10 years ago. Currently they are building the set for a new Tutankhamon film, very impressive! But old filmsets of Asterix, Gladiator and Ben Hur are falling down and desperately need some work and paint, like some other buildings in Marocco :-) It's a... More

It's a beatiful studio where you can find all the decors that were used for different films: Gladiators, Alexandre, Babel, The Way Back, The Last Temptation of Christ....

On our way to Ait Ben Haddou, we drove through Ouarzazate and briefly visited Atlas Studios. This is a huge film lot that was the backdrop or studio setting for a number of films. While many of the sets in the are now are is a state of disrepair, some of the Kasbahs built for sets near Atlas Studios are... More

I wouldn't say this is worthy of a detour, but if you are really into films, you will enjoy seeing it. Many famous movies have been made in and around Ouarzazate, including Lawrence of Arabia, The Living Daylights, the Last Temptation of Christ, and Star Wars movies. There are some fun film props, including faux Egyptian sculpture, interiors of slave... More

Nothing special but still an interesting location if you love the cinema. Most of the settings are dated and falling apart but it's nice to recognise some of them.

The film studios were used for filming impressive number of movies in need for exotic exteriors. They have sets ranging from desert-like Asterix, Obelix and Cleopatra with egyptian palaces, whole Jerusalem to tibet monastery used for filming Dalailamas life story Kundun. It is like a trip to another universe!

As a film buff, I would say you can't miss this. As a tourist, this experience is greatly going to depend on your guide. We had a charming, accommodating guide who probably gave a much better tour in French, but didn't quite have the vocabulary for the English version of the tour. So if you can use your imagination, fine,... More

It seems somehow surreal to find these studios but that just shows how misguided our preconceptions are. The guided tour was informative and just the right length. There was plenty to see and a refreshing lack of commercial outlets.
