There's a market for an interpretive museum to put Machu Picchu. And while this museum is pretty good, with attractive displays...it somehow leaves a dissatisfied feeling. Perhaps it's because it's at a basic level...but most people there have already done a bit of reading to justify their visit. Perhaps it's because it doesn't confront controversies such as why Machu Picchu... More

... if you are a true knowledge seeker! We walked to the museum shortly after we arrived at Aguascalientes. We were very impressed by the pottery we saw there! Also, it gave us a better understanding about where we were going to take the buses on the next day (Machu Picchu tour). It is too bad that not a lot... More

We took a nice hike to this museum and saw many things on the way. Just over the bridge this museum is a great way to learn a bit more about Inca culture and Machupicchu before trekking up. The fee also includes admission to the secret garden next door.

This museum has some interesting stuff, plus a lot of background information about Machu Picchu, its discovery, and being reworked. There were some pottery and various displays of Inca tools, life, etc.

This is worth the detour after you have seen Machu Piccu. the only downside is that you then have to walk back into town. The museum was informative with all the plaques in Englsh and Spanish.

What a wonderful museum to walk around after exploring Machu Picchu! We walked to this museum from Aguas Calientes and found it just the ticket to fill in the gaps after our tour. The explanations, photographs and artifacts are clearly displayed with good lighting. The text is in English and Spanish. Nearby there is a wonderful botanical garden that has... More

A small museo...interesting but you need to pay to get in ...which is not that much but to me was not worth it. The botanic garden next door is pretty like a jungle with small sign on each tree!

If you arrive the day before you go to the Machu Picchu site, then have a walk along the valley floor (it's pretty flat along the road) to this small museum to see the well-presented artefacts, photos and models of the main site and finds. There's a small botanic garden next door with flowers and hummingbirds. It's a shame that... More

Having just come down from a guided tour of Machu Pichu it was very interesting to see the artifacts, burial treasures, pots & jewellery that were found on the site. The explanations of the building technology, discovery & other info on Machu Pichu were well done & informative. This is a very small museum but quite enough after the long... More
