This place is well worth a visit. The hike is hard at altitude but if you walk slow it's no issue. Horses are available and most other people chose this option. We were able to leave our motorbike helmets with one of the vendors for free (although I bought some chocolate off her after) and there is hot drinks available to buy. The weather wasn't great but it was still worth it. Go before 10am to avoid the hoardes of people.

When you arrive to the check point, guides tell you that you have to walk more than a mile, it is not difficult as Laguna 69, or Rainbow Mountain, this hiking has some hills easy to overcome, the main atraction has changed a lot during the last 10000 years due to global warming, you have enough time to get there aand then go back.

The glacier is pretty majestic, walking is about an hour to the site, really good acclamitzation trip before any long hikes. Make sure you bring lots of water and coca leave teas to prevent headaches from altitude sickness!

This is a great idea for anyone who wants a good view and a chance to get used to the altitude. There is a path that takes you all the way to the glacier lookout point. Would definitely recommend booking this through a tour company in town as they will stop along the way and hit a few other spots en route to this gem!

Amazing trip! It’s a bit difficult because of the height but if you are walking slowly it should be fine. And don’t forget warm clothes since it’s really windy. It’s sad to see how the glacier gets smaller every year :(

This place is really lovely, I do consider it is a must do in Huaraz, however I noticed that people leave garbage behind and touch the glacier, we need to be more careful when visiting this nature sites.
I wish the place had more surveillance, cause this will disappear eventually and it doesn't seem to be that protected for the moment. Fun fact is Pastoruri has a Guiness record as the highest place in the world that produce renewable energy. The journey is also very interesting and you can view a few good spots, be prepared for the height here, a headache can be expected.
You can rent a horse which is usually recommended for the way up, for 7.5 soles and if you need someone to carry you that is also available, 10 soles for kids.

We hired a day trip. They stop on the way for short whiles so you can accommodate to the altitude. 40minutes hike that you should do slowly if you dont want to get sick. You can save half trekking hiring horses. Just remember they won't do all the way, just half. If you arrange a tour with an agency, they will take you to an overpriced tourist restaurant with no other alternatives around, so you can take your lunch if you prefer.

The hike to the Glacier is only about an hour. However you are at 5050 metres above sea level so it can be tricky. Definitely worth it though. Stunning views, weather permitting, and you can get surprisingly close the Glacier. Word of warning, the weather can change dramatically. We got out of the car and it's was cloudy but clear. By the time we got to the mirador, there was strong winds, hail and then a bit of a snow storm on the way down. Take a waterproof jacket and wear proper boots, just in case. Either way, an excellent day trip from Huaraz. Not to be missed.

This glacial is a cool place located in Huaraz and can be visited anytime during the year. One spectacular scenario that I enjoyed.

AlguĂ©m foi em setembro? Qual a temperatura mĂ©dia?

I will arrive in Lima, at 8:30 PM on January 1, 2018. I plan to go directly to Huarez from the airport. Is there any direct bus service from the airport? I will stay in Huarez for 5 days, from January 2 to 6. Is it possible to go on Nevada Pastoruri? If so, how can I make a reservation?

Hi Jaesoo. I will be traveling to Huaraz on January 2nd. I am trying to figure out if the rainy season will affect the ability to do the Santa Cruz Trek, Nevado Pastoruri, and other hiking in Huaraz. I have read that it rains in January, but I'm hoping to still be able to do the trip. What have you found?
Thanks.
