We chose Peruvian Andes Adventures because we experienced excellent communication and customer service as we were first investigating our options. Eight friends formed our own trekking group and hiked the Cordillera Huayhuash in late June/early July of 2023 and had an absolutely fantastic experience! Our guides were knowledgeable, caring, and joyful, and the whole support team was strong. A few of us suffered from sicknesses (including two who got COVID at the tail end), but we were well cared for, and they had an emergency horse that supported us. Can't recommend this company and this trek highly enough.

We did the Santa Cruz Alpamayo trek over 11 days. We originally had this booked to go in 2020, but the global pandemic meant we had to push this back to 2023. The team was very helpful with helping us reorganise our trip and the communication for every step of the process was excellent. They helped create an itinerary/experience that was perfect for us.
The hotel we stayed at in Huaraz was exceptional. It was exactly what we needed before and after our venture in the mountains. Even if I was going Huaraz without trekking, I would still stay at the Morales Guesthouse. The people there were very friendly and the service was excellent. It was in a great location and everyone there was there to help you. The rooms were very spacious, clean, and had nice hot water.
The trek itself was just simply amazing. It was absolutely stunning! It was a challenging trek in that there were quite a few passes you need to climb, but it is well worth it. You are almost in a different world surrounded by beautiful snow peaked mountains not disturbed by cars, planes, or phones. We made the right choice in doing the 11 day version. We used the extra day to spend at the base of Alpamayo to relax and enjoy a special Peruvian meal that was prepared for us.
The team that Hisao had organised was excellent. Our guide was a really lovely man who was with us every step of the way. The cook, Bernardo, was exceptional! We have done many treks around the world and I can easily say this was by far the best food we had ever had. In fact there was so much food we had to tell them not to serve so much each meal!
The tents for sleeping were in great shape. We also had a dining tent and a bathroom tent. It was all so well organised you had everything you needed. we even got a bowl of hot water in the morning and evenings to wash up with.
There is really not anything I would change about our experience with Peruvian Andes Adventures. I would 100% recommend using them and I would not hesitate to use them again for our next trip to this truly beautiful special part of the world!

While Huaraz has hundreds of adventure travel operators that offer multi-day trekking services ranging from the cutting-to-the-bone bare minimum to the ultra luxury experience, Peruvian Andes Adventure is an outstanding choice for those who value quality, safety and customization at a reasonable price. In fact, we used this Huaraz-based travel operator for our previous two trekking adventures, and selected it again for our recent 13-day Alpamayo Circuit trek that contains 3 extra days for side tracks to fully explore and enjoy what Cordillera Blanca has to offer.
In comparison to western-based travel agencies who ultimately sub-contract the trekking service to local operators, Peruvian Andes offers better services, customization, satisfaction and value. The former typically are heavy on the marketing with a high-cost structure to match, but thin on itinerary. For example, some of the former has only one built-in acclimatization day hike before the trek, while Peruvian Andes has a long list of day-hike choices and always suggests three day hikes before the trek (and we were glad that we did). As another example, some of the former does not include any “rest days” to do side tracks, e.g. a visit to Alpamayo Base Camp or checking out Santa Cruz sanctuary viewpoint. As a side note, without this kind of buffer days one may not even see the full beauty of Alpamayo if the weather is cloudy when the walk reaches the Alpamayo area and he/she has to keep going the next day.
Unlike some other local travel operators where the owner or co-owners can be all out guiding clients leaving no personnel at the office, Peruvian Andes Adventure has dedicated office manager(s). They promptly responded to our questions, and were 24x7 available to handle emergency situations and real-time itinerary change. For example, we had bad weather (snow) on Day 12 and we decided to return to Huaraz one day earlier than planned. Peruvian Andes quickly re-arranged our vehicle pick-up at the trail’s end and booked extra day’s hotel stay in Huaraz.
While a single person without a trekking guide license could play both roles of a guide and a cook to save money (a practice by some cutting-to-the-bone local operators), Peruvian Andes assigned a licensed guide and a dedicated/experienced cook for quality, safety and better experience, which were worth every penny. For example, our licensed guide with a passion for guiding took many pictures & video clips and shared with us, which would be very difficult or impossible to do if he were a guide AND a cook.
Another example: Our guide carried a small burner while our cook carried some cook wears to re-heat our lunch during the trek. Warm meals and hot water (from a thermal carried by our cook) helped minimize our stomach issues that can often occur at high elevations. They also carried an oxygen bottle, 1st-aid package, (safety) helmet in case the emergency horse is put to use. For a 10-day-plus trek, the odds of the unexpected can be much higher than a short one. In fact, one of our donkeys died after accidentally biting on a poisonous spider right before the difficult Cara Cara pass, and its load had to be shared among the remaining donkeys and the emergency horse so that our journey could continue without impact.
Dietary requirements are not that easy to meet because some popular items in developed countries are simply not available in Peru. So Peruvian Andes asked our guide to go with us to the local supermarket and let us pick alternative items.
In summary, we highly recommend Peruvian Andes to those who prioritize quality, safety, customization and value.

We hired Peruvian Andes Adventures to help us choose and organize a trek in the Cordillera Huayhuash. They were extremely helpful putting together an itinerary for our 12 day trek with the additional bonus of helping manage logistics in getting to and from Huaraz.
They are a top quality operation that provides quality equipment and hires great guides, cooks, etc for your trip. All involved are focused on providing a great experience and it shows.
Can't say enough good things about them. Go! The mountains in the Huaraz region are spectacular.

Hisao Morales (IFMGA guide and owner) runs a well organized, safe and client focused company. He was early to every meeting and extremely accommodating for our 4 day trek through Cordillera Blanca along the Santa Cruz trail. Every aspect was taken care of by him and his team and we had an unforgettable experience on the trail (my second time!). Even more unforgettable and a real show of character was him literally saving my wife's and my life. After our trek we arrived back in Huaraz to our hotel. We were having GI issues and felt extreme dehydration. Hisao with his years of experience knew the signs and immediately arranged for a local doctor to visit our hotel even though we weren't on the trek any longer and weren't even staying at his hotel (which is beautiful by the way). Hisao stayed with us an entire day, helping to arrange medical support and supplies even going to the pharmacy on our behalf and covering the expenses while we lay in bed unable to move. With his help we recovered enough to make the bus back to Lima and end our trip on a healthy note. Truly an amazing guy!

We did a 3 day climbing tour in the Cordillera Blanca with Peruvian Andes Adventure. We just had one week in Huaraz, did some acclimatization tours the first days and the 3 days trip to our first 5000er. It was a well organized tour, we felt very safe and comfy from the very first moment. Everything was on time, first day we had a 1,5 hours drive to the valley and then a 3 hours walk to the base camp with very good lunch and beautiful views. In the evening the cook made us a delicious meal so we had enough energy for the summit day. 1 am wake up, short breakfast and 2 am we started our tour. Due to good weather and good condition we reached the summit and returned back to base camp. Again very good food and back to our nice tents with cozy sleeping bags. One night again in the tens and after a yummy breakfast in the sun with mountain view we went back to the car. this time we took another way back with beautiful look outs around the mountains. Again a very good lunch and then back to the hotel. We really enjoyed the trip with Peruvian Andes Adventures because the organization was very good, structured and well organized. We had very comfortable equipment (tent, matratze, sleeping bags) and most important very good food and drinks..... the guide was very experienced and we could ask hin any question about the region or any mountain climb. So we had very nice conversation too. Thanks for this amazing trip we really enjoyed the time with you guys......

I completed the 10-Day Huayhuash Trek Circuit through Peruvian Andes Adventures. I cannot speak highly enough about this company. We travelled at the end of September and encountered mixed weather conditions. I was so glad I booked through this company. We were glad of the terrific (and plentiful) food. The staff were all so friendly and helpful throughout. The trek itself is amazing. I am glad to recommend this company to my friends.

We were a group of 9 who attempted to summit Mt. Ishinca(18,200ft) with two acclimatization day hikes. We had the best experience we could ask for. Hisao and his excellent crew took care of us right from planning our itinerary to picking us up from Lima airport, arranging all the bus transfers to Huarez and back, day hikes and the summit hike. They also arranged Lima city tours for us. I have been to Mt.Kilimanjaro, Mt.Rainier with different guiding agencies and Hisao and his team is the best I have seen thru my travels. If you want to summit the mountains near Huarez, Peruvian Andes is the only agency I recommend. They are a bit pricey when you compare them with other agencies in Huarez, and there is a reason for that. Their service, excellent guides, personal care all add up and you really cannot put a value on that. We are already planning to go back in two years to do more summit hikes and definitely going to go with Peruvian Andes.
I will be forever grateful to Hisao and his excellent team for making our first Andes mountaineering experience the best!!!

From the first email correspondence I had with Peruvian Andes Adventures, I got everything I needed in detail, and all communication with them was quick and professional.
From my itinerary, I was taken care of the moment I took the bus from Lima to Huaraz, and back.
I was picked up from the bus station in Huaraz, and brought to my hotel (Moreno hotel). I was provided information on the trip by Hisao. He informed me of the 2 acclimatization hikes to 4000m on day 1 and 4500m on day 2. He guided me on both hikes and provided background on all my questions regarding the region. He is very knowledgeable on all mountaineering type questions as he is a certified guide. On the next 2 day portion of the hiking trip to Vallunaraju, he made sure to check all the gear I had and was able to help me rent all other needed gear. On the hike up the glacier to the mountain peak, I felt safe and properly guided. I enjoyed my experience and would recommend this company to anyone looking for a hiking adventure. I only had 4 days to do hikes, but I know their company offers more or less days so they are very flexible. It feels like Hisao is working all the time, so he is very responsive to any questions I had.

Hi, would you recommend the Alpamayo Base Camp Short Trek over the Santa Cruz - Ulta Trek? I want to do a trek that is challenging but doable. I have a good fitness level and would like to have the best bang for the buck!
Thanks!
