Really nice ~1.5 walk from the center of Huaraz, and just outside of the ruins there's a beautiful mirador on a hill. Fascinating that such old structures are just outside of the city! If you've got a free few hours, I'd recommend it!

We took a taxi up to the ruins for 20 s. We were dropped of at the entrance where we paid 5s/p to get in. No one spoke any English (our fault, we should speak Spanish) so we didn't know or were told there were...More

I went there by myself. Took a taxi from town 15/s and I was so happy I didn't walk up! The way up is quite long and steep. Entrance is 5/s. there are some cute kids there offering to be your guide :) I personally...More

Personally, I found the experience of entering a 1200 year old long-house to be extremely compelling. The stone work is simply extraordinary and I think these ruins are somewhat under rated. OK - they do not match Machu Picchu or Kuelap in terms of 'wow'...More

We took a taxi to the ruins. There are two sets of ruins within about 10 mins walk from each other. We went to the lower ones first and on the way to the second, we started talking to a group of German tourists who...More

We went one Sunday morning, catching an almost falling apart taxi. Once there, there was a small museum with some interesting information about the site and local history. The tombs were interesting to explore (although lacked information and were a bit samey) and the scenery...More

We took this walk for acclimatization right from our guesthouse in Huaraz. It was an interesting route through the outskirts of town and a view into real Huaraz life. The ruins weren't particularly large or interesting but enough of a destination to be worthwhile for...More

Easy part day trip to visit these small but interesting ruin areas. Take the collectivo bus up (if you can spare the 1.5 soles, ~40cents USD), then walk back to town to earn your ice cream. I wouldn't dedicate a day to make this trip,...More

A nice half day excursion from Huaraz. The ruins are pre-inca burial chambers and were used for worship of the dead. You can go inside the chambers and admire the stone construction. They are about a 30 minute drive from town or a 2 hour...More

We hiked up from Casa de Maruja to the ruins. The trail wasn't that bad, but could be confusing at some intersections. There are a lot of stray dogs. Though, it is good for a day hike. The ruin and museum is pretty small.
