Simply....a marvelous peak to view Sagada! For this trek, you really need a guide due to some forks on the trail. Do not believe in some blogs that a guide is not needed. Also, make sure that the guide can take you to the smart cell tower at the real summit. Some guides tell their clients that the summit has... More

When you have some spare time and still want something to do in Sagada, do a half-day hike to Mount Ampacao. Other than that, you can go somewhere else. Mount Ampacao does not offer the best spectacular views. Probably, the highlight of the hike is reaching Lake Danum.

The three-hour Mt. Ampacao tour is a nice hike. After a short distance along the road, it's a narrow trail through the forest and meadows. The path goes along the crest, so you have nice views to both the Sagada and the Besao side. It's not very difficult (though parts may become slippery after rain)

It's an okay day hike. Weirdly, the summit doesn't really offer an amazing view - it's the shoulder (a meadowy area) that will give you a good pay off. Doable in the afternoon if you're a reasonably good hiker. :)

We are 6 pax. Good: When you reached the summit of this mountain you'll be able to see the Tirad Pass and the mountain ranges of the Cordillera Bad: The trail going to the summit is stiff that you might need a mountain walking sticks. This is a 1.5-2 hour trek going to the summit and will end to Lake... More

After a 1.5 to 2 Hrs. hike surrounded by towering Pine Trees and Cool Breeze of Air.. the view at the ranch and at the top of Mt Ampacao gives you a peaceful feeling.

If you can get a guide to go this is a pleasant walk with excellent views back into Sagada and over the range to the other side. There is no rock climbing just a fair bit of ascent. It is cool at the top and the weather wasn't good enough for us to go on further to the north, but... More

you can climb Mt. Ampacao w/out guide via Ambasing School but if you want to traverse to lake Danum the path is hard to find, so you will traverse to the same path you took going up... 3hrs time allotment... the path to smart cell site is already closed you can try but the path is difficult... you will decide... This is by far the most challenging trek that I have ever made. When you reach the top of Mt. Ampacao, the scenery is breathtaking and I won't blame you for taking a hundred selfies in all angles! Just make sure you go down 2-3 hours before the sun goes down or else it would be a difficult descend specially... More
