Built the 15 hundreds, almost 5 centuries ago , by the order of the Wallachian king Petru Cercel , it is the "Royal" church of the court of Targoviste (Targoviste was the capital of the Wallachian kingdom through the centuries). So it is fairly small , compared to other churches or cathedrals, still what is missing in size it definitely makes up for when it comes to its historical importance and the decorations inside. The paintings are pretty well preserved and although the Royal court and palace is in ruins , the church still stands tall beside the former palace ... for those interested in Wallachian architecture, this is a very fine piece to check-out. So when you are visiting the former Royal court ... check out the church ... it is worth a few minutes and several pics.

Well, the church was being renovated when I was there. But we could go in anyway. A lot of old icons, paintings there. It is called "princely church" because it was set aside for the worship of the regal family.
