One of the smallest chapels in the area, this compact building is surrounded by forest, bee hives, and small lodgings for the monks. Quite lovely. It is also a good starting points for hikes in the Fruška Gora area.

One of a number of monasteries in the Fruška Gora area, this monastery was built in the 16th century. The architectural influences of the Austro-Hungarian empire, which controlled this area, are clearly evident. Two km down the road is the old monastery (Staro Hopovo).

A few weeks ago we travelled to Serbia (two friends and I) and took a trip to Novi Sad and the Fruska Gora Monasteries. The area is very nice and we really enjoyed it! We took a local guide (Gradimir, grada365@gmail.com) to visit it, he...More

As with Krusedol, worth a quick visit unless you are very religious and wish to spend more time there. No guides or information posted. Interesting frescoes, and less run down than Krusedol. Some religious souvenirs for purchase.

I saw this monastery in the evening, after sunset: the air was cold and pure and you could really smell the winter, the grass, the soil. The church was really dark, it took several minutes for our eyes to finally accustom to darkness, and we...More

Novo Hopovo was one of two monasteries we visited on a day trip. We opted out of the organised tour of the monasteries in Fruska Gora since it cost £120 ($170 American Dollars) for the day. Instead we followed the unusual instructions from the Bradt...More
