The sanctuary is relatively small but the visit is very informative and wonderful for a family. We managed to release some baby turtles into the ocean at sunset, so this was a very magical experience! The hatchery is a very worthwhile cause, so I would definitely recommend a visit.

We'd visited this place in a hurry because it got really late, and the owner was sweet enough to wait past their closing time of 6pm, till we got there. He was really nice and let us release the hatched baby turtles into the sea, which was a wonderful experience. We did see a couple of tanks with much larger... More

Nice talk from owner, good info on turtles and how the hatchery works. Very up close to turtles and can handle one or two each. Not a long experience but we were there 25 mins or so. Kids loved it. Have some nice pics.

Place is quite small and it takes only a half an hour to take a tour, but it is worth to visit. You can actually held the baby turtles in your hand. They were so cute. 1000 rupias per person with a private guide.

Not that big sanctuary, but the host buys off, keeps turtles and frees them. He continues his family "business". It worth to see. You can hold 2-weeks turtles in hands

This place has differnt types of turtles with differnt colors as well . Though the turtles are very small, you can still hold them in your hand they actually tend to show the whole life cycle of the Turtle . Interesting place.

We stopped here on a day trip from Negombo to Galle and saw the disabled turtles and the hatchery. While we were there baby turtles were being dug up and it was nice to see a baby just emerging from its shell. It was interesting to see two large turtles, one being friendly and the other known as Mr Nasty... More

Upon arrival we were told about the different types of turtles being hatched there. The guide then turned to a covered pile in the sand and dug up two premature baby turtles and planted one in my wife's hand before burying them again ready to be dug up again for the next guests. He showed us numerous tanks and showed... More
