Interesting to see the dancing and drumming. Beautiful costumes but the dancers and drummers looked bored half the time. Became a bit repetitive by the end. The fire walking and breathing at the end was sensational but didn't last for very long at all. Would have liked to have seen more of this.

Very amateur type performance -in a very bad setting pak ray kandyan dance at oak ray regency. The company seems to be minting money without any sort of training for the dancers.
The setting is so bad that only the first couple of rows can actually watch the dance. The whole dance is very missable.. don’t bother wasting your time here.. underwhelming to say the least

Shashika handled our booking of tickets in a very efficient and friendly way. Tickets were ready when we arrived and the seats in the hall was marked with our names, very convenient.
The show it self was an interesting way to get insights into Sri Lankan folk culture. The show seemed well choreographed and the dances skillful.

Interesting to see. Costs 1000 SLR and is enjoyable if one has free time in Kandy. The dancers had different dance styles & generally it was cool to see the show.

The dancers seemed bored and as a result they were constantly out of sync with each other. Some of it was okay, and some of it was very impressive. Other times it was funny because it was just so bad!
At the end I was disappointed to see the dancers asking tourists for money in order to have pictures taken with them. I didn’t feel this was a very professional approach.
Overall It felt like a school play with adults.

Beware - The Lonely Planet guidebook (Jan 2015 Edition) says this place is 500 Rupees for a ticket. On the door the ticket sellers contested this and said the ticket price had gone up this year to 1000 Rupees. They were very firm on this and kept saying the guidebooks were incorrect and out of date.
When we walked away though the price miraculously fell down to 500 Rupees...

This review is specifically for the show at the Oak Ray Hotel. We were taken here by our driver and with a short visit to the gem museum opposite before the show. Avoid the gem “museum” – hard sell tourist trap. The dance show was average – it takes place in some sort of hot stuffy conference room at the back of the hotel. The ceiling is very low and one of acts therefore has to get off the stage to perform his finale. There are some mythical creatures about halfway through the dance which are laughable. All of the performers appear to enjoy themselves but the dancing is average – the men are better than the women (two of the women were eating when they came on stage for the finale). The drummers were the best part. The performance culminates in fire walking and fire breathing in the car park outside. If you’ve seen Balinese dance, you will be very disappointed. I am sure that there must be much better venues in Kandy to see the drummers. Given the venue and quality, for 1,000LKR a head, I think it is a bit overpriced.

I'm actually writing this mid-performance. 40 mins in and all I can say is dull. Very amateurish, in fact I've seen better dancing at my kid's school talent quest! Very disappointed. Save your money and go out for a nice dinner in Kandy. Also seats are bloody uncomfortable.

Not very good. A few overweight men dancing with fancy costumes to drummers aren't very good.
Overpriced drinks and snacks.
Don't waste your time

This was something that is interesting and exciting to watch. The performance of these talented people who are showing the cultural heritage with dancing and musical instruments is great. It is held in a hall which has birds etc flying around there is no air conditioning and the seats are pretty uncomfortable, but the show is good and the fire walking at the end is excellent.

Really amazed watching the marvellous dancing items at kandyan cultural centre. Should appreciate the effort taken by the organisers of the event. These types of work helps to protect the culture of the country . Felt really proud seeing the brilliant performances . If you are to visit kandy, yeah this is a must place to visit. So go and feel the proud srilankan culture ..
