We toured the cemetery with the caretaker, Charles. The 30 minutes we spent with him was the highlight of our two days in Kandy. His grandfatherly demeanor was informative, charismatic, and entertaining.

First, you must ask for the caretaker, without him and his information this would not be very interesting. The caretaker will take you around and tell you the stories of the people buried here and it opens a window into the colonial life at that...More

We came for history and stayed for monkeys. So many monkeys. Peaceful and off the tourist main trek, just slightly.

Caretaker was great at telling us about the various tombstones and the people buried. He provided us with a small brochure of the cemetary that described what he had told us verbally.

A very knowledgable gentleman who has looked after the cemetery for decades takes you on a tour of the old graveyard telling fascinating stories of the deceased and their families. Prince Charles has visited the cemetery during a state visit to Sri Lanka and was...More

Very peaceful location a short distance from the Scared Tooth Temple. Be sure to get the guided tour from the caretaker to appreciate the history. He is very interesting and pleasant to listen to.

This was an interesting but melancholy spot. Well cared for, with a new fence to keep out the wild boar thanks to Prince Charles! The caretaker and his son are good storytellers.

Hi, I am not very sure which is the British Military Garrison you are referring to. I guess it goes by the name of 'Commonwealth War Graves Commission'. If yes the distance would be 6.8km. Please find the location... More
