it is just like the other Buddha Statue, serene and amazing. as a Buddist, it was calming, but some of the other members in the group were bored. If you have seen one, its almost like you have seen it all

We could see this Buddha from our hotel room so naturally wanted to see it up close and wow!! its easy to get to from anywhere in Kandy - just walk towards it. And I would definitely recommend climbing in the evening after sunset. The Buddha looks amazing when it's lit up and there was no one around! There was... More

It is worth a visit to this big buddha statue. It is an enormous creature and and is a very powerful place. You can walk up the statue and it delivers a stunning view over Kandy.

This beautiful large Buddha overlooks the town of Kandy. To get there, walk to the top of the hill, or take a TukTuk. Once at the top, you enter into the temple area and pay a small fee of $1.35 pp. On the main level, there is a Buddhist gift shop which sells Monk Bags and many other items. A... More

The walk up was good to do after a a fair bit of travelling, not super challenging but nice a sweaty though. You have to leave your shoes and they ask for a donation that you don't have to pay... another 3 metres they bring out the foreigners ticket book for 200 Rupeess.... the view and the breeze worth the... And I expect that if you are travelling Sri Lanka you may likely have travelled Thailand. Just assuming here, but follow me on this one. Thailand would make a big deal abiut such a huge hilltop Buddha. They would no doubt have signs. Probably couldn't miss it if you wanted to. It would also have a grand staircase approach. Painted... the buddha statue was not the best that we have seen, and considering the walk to get here we were hoping for better. the statues was covered in scaffolding. Appreciate that the statue needs to be maintained but we still paid full price to see it, slightly disappointed!

The statue was so big in person that I nearly creamed my jeans. You can't helped but be awed by the size.
