Breezy and good view from top!

Pity they don't let you go all the way up and the view is partially blocked at the top. Only from midway can you really enjoy a good view and breeze!

Nothing exclusive to be done here. Statue looks amazing and the only thing you would want to see. Walk around leisurely and do not give into any forced donations!

Set atop a large hill with splendid views of Kandy city and surrounds, this Buddha statue is a real highlight of Kandy. Climb the staircase behind Buddha for excellent shots and a cool wind to refresh you. As always, keep an eye out for Vishnu. You'll find him somewhere. Inside the Buddha is a little antechamber filled with carvings and... More

This is not much crowded place like most religious places around Kandy. Visiting in evening is recommended. Also bring a binocular if you have one. You can see a rare view of surroundings of Kandy from the top of the statue

We took a 5 minute tuk tuk ride from Kandy centre for 150 rupees, climbing the steep roads to get there. On arrival you are ordered to leave your fips slops, shoes at a very small stall where they sell coconut and snacks....they do demand a donation... on arrival up the stairs, you are met by a monk who will... Very impressive statue and has amazing views of Kandy. Reasonably priced entrance and a couple of contribution boxes. Just respect the place.

Dirty and unkept site. Nice lookout. But you don't really have to pay and go in. Could just see from below. Although I saw a chameleon in the garden which was very exciting. Pay 20 rupees for your shoes or just put them in your backpack. They should open a cafe up there....and clean it up.

It is possible to take a tuk tuk up or make the steep walk to the top wich will take less then 30 minutes from the Tourist Information office near the local bus stand. The views over Kandy and the surrounding hills are certainly worth it.

Bit cheesy unless you are keen on temples Not very old Not very exciting Easy to access by tuk tuk or cab right to the foot of the statue and not many steps to the top
