Brilliant place to pick up genuine and quality arts and crafts from all over India. We bought some absolutely gorgeous handwoven cushion covers and shawls from Aadyam. Excellent modern designs, high end materials and weaving. Also the pashminas were very high quality. Maybe prices a bit higher than in some markets but the absence of hassling shop assistants makes it worth it. Slightly institutional look but don’t be put off by that.

This is the GO TO DESTINATION for Indian handicrafts in New Delhi. The shop is huge and well stocked, although the design layout and the shopping method is slightly quirky. However, you get genuine products, at reasonable prices, with no hard selling or haggling. You are at peace to browse around and take in the textiles, saris, jewellery, metalwork, woodwork, sculptures, paintings, books, furniture etc- there is something for everyone, from big to small. Buy your Indian souvenirs from this government emporium and you will be helping the rural artisans of India directly, instead of the middle men. Highly recommend!

There is a cafe in the same building, where you can get refreshments, if you are tired from all the shopping!

Yes, you may pay slightly more than you would on the street. But, in return you get all the peace and quiet to look at the itemsin your own time. The store has a really good range of handicrafts from all over India on offer. The quality is OK to great. I especially like their cloth section and they have a small but well-stocked book store. For souvenirs, this is a great place

We dropped into Central Cottage Industries to do a little gift shopping before heading home. The emporium has numerous levels of floors selling all types of Indian products. It’s a good place to shop if you just want fixed prices & don’t want to banter. However, I found the shop lacked anything ‘special ‘ although my hubby enjoyed it for the selection of Indian made ties.
