This place is mainly for second hand books at good prices. You can even find some unused/less used books at 30-40% discount. The books range from fiction to comics to academics. Also, good scope for bargaining.. Good experience.

This attraction seems to be quite popular among the locals. On Sundays mornings mostly locals flock here to buy books on diverse subjects. I spent almost 2-3 hours roaming here, and sighted several and bought two vintage books. This is no doubt a bibliophile's delight but one has to haggle mercilessly.

The Dharyaganj market is open on Sundays and the books are placed on the road side walkways . One can get all variety of books like Engg , Medicine , Competitive Exams books , Novels , Comics etc at very good bargain rate to the extent of 30 to 40 % of the original price . The only limitation seems to be one will not get the latest editions of the books. Also the vehicle parking is also little problematic . Good bargain market .

A myriad collection of dog eared (used) and new books ranging from fiction, non-fiction, self-help, science and engineering. Tens and tens of street vendors sell these books for a cheap rate. The better you bargain, the cheaper the price of the book.
Besides books, also found a vendor selling antique and old coins from the Mughal and British India era. If you are a coin collector, you'd be pleasantly surprised with the coin offers and the price. The vendor's name is Mr. Vijay Kumar and he sits beside the Moti Mahal restaurant.

For a young 20 something guy, it isn't easy to splurge on books. This place offers the perfect remedy. Second hand books of various vintages can be bought if only you have the patience to delve into the huge stacks of books scattered about.

For the first timer, I recommend that you wander a bit observing the book stalls checking whether they have the kind of books that you're looking for. Do not go overboard on seeing a book being sold at half its cover price. There is a good possibility that you can buy it for cheaper a few stalls down the line. Always bargain. Try to watch a few hardened regulars negotiate with the seller before you proceed to buy. Some shopkeepers know their stuff very well, but most have little clue of the value of their books. It isn't unheard of to find a first edition copy among a collection of Mills and Boons say. So buckle up and dig deep into those tomes and rest assured that someone there has the book that you're looking for at a very cheap price.
PS: Just so you don't end up like me, make sure the Sunday you go doesn't fall before any major holiday. I was left all high and dry when I went there the Sunday before Durga Puja.

Here you can find a book from Rs. 10 to Rs. 1000. A mills & boon sits next to a Mein Kamph, while the best of Jamie Oliver’s cooking can be found next to Picaso’s brush strokes. That’s the beauty of this place. You can find something regular, vintage, unique, rare and simply idiotic or exotic on the same path.

Famous with students who want second hand medical or Engg books, it's actually a place everyone must visit one. Sunday mornings is the perfect time to visit.
