The church is just before the Ridge, so you'll get to cover two spots when heading over there. The church has great history here in Shimla. When we went it was closed for public viewing, but it usually opens after lunch time, which is what the guard there told us.

Standing at one end of The Ridge, the neo-Gothic Christ Church is an imposing landmark on Shimla's skyline. Built by the British in 1857, its interior is plain in appearance except for some splendid stained-glass windows at the eastern end. Amongst these, the chancel window was designed by Lockwood Kipling, the father of Rudyard Kipling. As you would expect from a church of the British India era there are many plaques and memorials on the walls. Living not far from Tonbridge in Kent, I was amazed to see one memorial honouring Arthur Pearse Howell, a former pupil of Tonbridge School. Another interesting memorial honours Lieutenant-General Sir Gerald de Courcy Morton. Described as "a noble character and a simple gentleman", this is the person who developed the 'dumdum' bullet beloved by big game hunters and thriller writers. If you are anywhere on The Ridge, it is worth entering to have a look at this historic building.

This church is an interesting Victorian space.
The plaques lining the walls are memorials to those lost in India during the British Raj era and are fascinating. Some nice stained glass too. This is a good spot to relax and reflect just yards from the hubbub of town.
