1. Even if you are all templed-out, this one is a must-see. It is very old but has suffered little from the passage of time. The state of preservation is astounding. 2. Close-up, the intricacy of the carvings is impressive, both inside and out.

This temple, which is dedicated to Vishnu, is covered in wonderful Hindu carvings of gods and goddesses, warriors, elephants and even a few erotic illustrations. Having a good guide will add tremendously to your visit.

One of the great art temples and sights in the world.Extraordinary work on the roofs,outside the temple and rare statues.Some disfigured by the raiders but still exceptional.No prayers are done here as this is a museum sight.

Definitely a 4-5 star attraction. Must visit to see the Hoysala Architecture. Less crowded than Belur and Halebeedu but equally beautiful.

Santosh, I visited the place in September, if I am not mistaken 26th. I did pay for the camera, small ticket amount. No big deal. As soon as you enter the premises, the admin office is to your right.

The temple is managed by Archeological Survey of India. It is open between 9-00 A.M. to 5 or 5-30 P.M. But entry will not be allowed after 4-00 P,M. There are qualified guides. It takes about 45 minutes from Mysore if... More
