Our hotel was right outside. The Gateway of India is iconic and a must if you visit Mumbai. You can walk around it - but there is railings so you can't actually go inside. There is a lot of people offering to take your photographs...More

This iconic structure is a must visit when you are in Mumbai. Prepare for crowds at night time. A great way to see it is from one of the many boats that leave from nearby.

Not a lot to do there, and very busy but worth a visit if you are In Mumbai. I would not travel to Mumbai specifically to see this.

A familiar image but first time in person. A decent crowd but no unbearable. We took group photos we some domestic tourists at their request. Quite a bit of left-over British architecture in the area. Of course the Taj Palace in across the street.

Obviously the Gateway of India should be visited, but do recommend getting there before 10am as it becomes so busy after then.

When you visit here its not that you just see a gate. Its the Taj hotel in front and Gateway adjacent to sea. You can see the boats as well which can give you a ride to Alibaug or elephanta caves. The ticket counter for...More

We walked to the Gateway as it was extremely close to our hotel. Much of the area is cordoned off so you end up walking much further around. Very busy but particularly nice when lit up at night. Would be useful to have some information...More

maybe going inside premises is not allowed as when i went there were barracks there so but the outside view is only pretty awesome
