This ‘Queen’s Necklace’ is a beautiful drive along the coast of South Mumbai stretching from Nariman Point in the south to Malabar Hill in the north. The sea-facing promenade offers a favourite break time for Mumbai locals – college students, families, couples, tea & coffee vendors, foot and head massagers and photographers often flock to gossip or just gaze at the skyline. The views during the monsoons (June till September) are particularly breathtaking. Studded with Chowpatty Beach for its lip-smacking street food, Bachelor’s for its unique ice creams and India’s oldest aquarium, at night the streetlights along this drive enhance the dramatic arch of the bay.

South Mumbai has many places to see. it's the primary station where the local trains start from.one among the oldest business hub and also Gateway of India, Mantralaya, Nariman Point, BSE,Sea Face, Flora Fountain, Elephanta caves, Fashion Street and Colaba Market, Taj Hotel. And must eat from Restaurant Baghdadi Biryani and chicken Item.

Be at Churchgate at 11.30 am Mon - Friday (not sure about
Saturday, definitely not Sunday) and you will see the famous Dabbawalas in action. Wonderful - a logistical phenomenon that is not to be missed!

It is definitely not as big as CST (Central Railway); but the building and the station premises are well-maintained...
As trains arrive and depart offloading and loading thousands of passengers, it feels good to position yourself in a strategic corner to watch the fast life in the city that never sleeps.

Classic building of the station and near by ambience. The near by restaurant is for common man but very good. Spacious to accommodate Mumbai crowd.

There isn't much to say about Churchgate Railway station, except that it is well located near some lovely shopping and eating joints. Just hail down a cab outside the station and ask to go to Colaba. Get off at Regel theatre and then walk!

Visit to Churchgate is a MUST to enjoy the thrill of Mumbai. The continuous zipping of local trains and the throngs of people rushing day in and out is a amazing scene for any non mumbaite. There are food stalls, boot polish walas, and lots more to enjoi within. The subway has all variety of goods available for the newbies and once you step out .. the majestic view of Mumbai and the old English architecture Churchgate building .. worth a visit

What an amazing process. Can't really fully appreciate it just going here though. if you line up outside, you can "latch" onto a guide who will tell you what is going on and how the process works...

This is apparently the last station of Mumbai. This was build way back during the british Raj rule of India. Although a new and imposing structure stands in the place nowadays, the heritage of Churchgate station is spellbinding.
Visit once just to have a look, but it ain't a tourist place in that sense.

I cannot think of anything to commend this place - unless one wants to watch and experience the chaos and utter madness that Bombay suburban travel is. This is a modern building with no elements of architectural interest. I would rather recommend CST on the main line - you get the same buzz and can also admire the architectural beauty of the building and that of the BMC headquarters across the street.

Hi,
Would it be possible to leave my luggage (two suitcases) in this train station for 3 or 4 hours? Do they have lockers or a left luggage office?
Thanks!

Hi, I will visit Mumbai next week and would like to see the Dabbawalas. Is it possible to do this privately, not through a tour group? Thank you for your reply.
