The city of Jaipur has presiding deity of the Divine mother ever since the city was founded by the royals . Outside the city it takes about an hour from city to reach here . Right atop the hill inside the famed Amer fort this temple is situated next to the entry door just before you enter the main fort . The timings are strictly monitored closes at precisely at 12 o’clock noon and opens at 4 pm . The beautiful idol of shila devi is bewitching . The devotees will feel the devotion by looking at her . There is also a tiny temple of Kal Bhairav which is also beautiful,The cameras are prohibited . Footware is forbidden . Entry is free . Anyone coming for the famed Amer fort must visit this temple . A must visit .

The Shila Mata Mandir is a Hindu temple inside Amber Fort and is renowned for the statue of Durga in the sanctum Sanctorum. You can easily spot the temple because it’s got a star shaped fountain just in front of the entrance. Worth visiting when in Amber Fort, but it’s probably a better experience for devotees.

There is a place in Amber Fort where they are very strict about prohibiting photography. They will make you remove your shoes and deposit your camera and phone and then only one can enter this beautiful temple which was sacred to the Royal Family. It is believed that the image of Goddess Kali, also called Mahisasur Mardini was brought by Sawai Man Singh II from Jessore now in Bangladesh after defeating him in 1605 AD..
The entrance to the temple is through a double door covered in silver with a raised relief. The main deity inside the sanctum is flanked by two lions made of silver. The image of Sila Devi has been carved out of one single stone slab. At the entrance to the temple, there is also a carving of Lord Ganesha, which is made out of a single piece of coral.
It is a beautiful temple.

At entrance to the palace near the forts Ganesh gate, there is a temple of Kali. The silver entrance doors to the small kali temple from 16th century to 1980 when it was banned due to a goat being scarified here daily. When in the amber fort one can visit this temple and sought blessings if you wish. Well you have to remove shoes and leather belts before entering temple like any other temple. Temple is closed between 12 TO 4pm.

Shila Devi (Goddess) Temple is right in there in Amer Fort Complex. A visit to the temple just cannot be avoided specially if you plan to visit Amer Fort (and why would n't you go there if you are on leisure in Jaipur). Goddess - a form of 'Kali' is one of the nine incarnations of the supreme Mother. My Guide "Bunty" told us that this temple still belongs to the Royal family of Jaipur - not sure whether that is true but temple inspires a myriad of feelings. He also shared that this is a temple where a goat is still sacrificed around 4:00 AM every morning after which goat meat is distributed amongst priests and some portion is sent out to the royal family. Again, I cannot vouch for the same; could just be myth. At the entrance, I confess, I noticed some foreign tourists, in a bit "not sure whether to go in" mood but believe me whether you are a local citizen or other wise, step-in to a wonderful view of the goddess who is claimed to have trampled upon the Lord Shiva in fury & rage. As soon as you sttep in, a lot of history and character of the place almost seizes you. Remember, photography may not be allowed. Preferably try to have your head, legs and arms covered. Goddess' statue is divine; temple complex has statues of other Hindu gods as well including Ganesha. It almost feels like a dip in Ganges in Haridwar or Varanasi; believe me or try out yourself. Oh, BTW, some more useful information at the following links:

This was the first place we visited within the fort proper i.e. beyond the large courtyard. We were in good time for the 10am service which was interesting (& loud). Certainly worth a brief visit given its historical significance.

Shila Devi temple is within the main premises of Aber fort. Devotees from all parts of the country and abroad come here for blessings of powerful deity of Devi Maa. During Navaratri festival you will not find an inch of place on account of very large number of visitors. You are not allowed to take with you inside the temple anything made of leather. Must put off your shoes outside the temple and also must cover your head. Photography is strictly prohibited.
