This lake is a huge water body around Jal Mahal when you approach Jaipur from Aamer fort. You can see lot of migratory birds and enjoy good local snacks from road side vendors and some good restaurants. Amolak Rattan Kohli

The scenery here is picturesque if you are able to forget the traffic and the crowds. The water palast Jal Mahal has been built by Jai Singh II. even its history doesn’t seem to be absolutely clear. Worth a stop and doable onthe way to Amber and Nahargarh Fort.

After undertaken by JMRPL the ecological restoration work started and Jal Mahal started recovering its magic and now has transformed into an ecologically healthy eco-system and regains the status of a pavilion of pleasure once again.
Until a few years ago, it was a parched and polluted lakebed. But today, Man Sagar Lake has transformed into a resurgent wetland, a new home to birds, fish, flora and fauna and a shimmering sheet of water that reflects the beauty of Jal Mahal and the surrounding Aravalli hills, both by day and night.
Over 216 species of birds are found in and around Lake Man Sagar out of total 500 species of birds found in all in Rajasthan. It shows tremendous improvement in habitat due to introduction of plants in lake at its surrounding edge and over the land around it. The introduced fish species are also attracting lots of resident birds to nest and their numbers are increasing every year.
Similarly before eco-restoration there was hardly any vegetation cover in the immediate vicinity and over Islands in Man Sagar so mammals were only some times spotted around, while after eco-restoration they are regularly seen in Lake Man Sagar.
The availability of food has increased. The fruits of planted trees and increased population of insects in the area being insecticide free zone has given rise to an eco-friendly area around the lake and has converted it as paradise for birds.
Truly i am happy to see the turning bad lake into healthy ecology.

On way to Amber Fort, an artificial lake having Jal Mahal in middle of it. Its lovely experience visiting at sunrise or sunset time, though don’t stop where mad crowd is, it’s more pleasant visiting away from the rush and quieter area to feel the essence of the place.

We went here as part of a day tour which took us to 5/6 other places. There is an unbelievable amount of people selling things and the hassle that comes with it as a tourist. We took a photo of it and left, as it’s quite far away and you can’t approach it, it felt like once we had seen it we could walk away after a minute.

The main attraction of the lake is Jal Mahal, the lake palace, which is a most beautiful building, which can change colour in different lights. There is also lots of bird life alonf the shores.. However, it is totally spoiled by the amount of rubbish along the shoreline, and can be very off putting..
We stayed in the hotel right opposite , so got some great views and photos

You'll come across the lake and water palace on your way to the fort, and it's worth a quick stop for a few photos but nothing more.
The views are amazing but sadly the palace is not accessible and you'll be heckled to buy pen knifes, jewellery and water.

Jaipur has this lake which is one of the most beautiful place in Jaipur. For all tourists it worth going there in the evening and if get an opportunity visit inside JAL MALA also. Even if you do not go inside JAL MAHAL is worth watching from anywhere. This lake is surrounded by mountains all around.
