Great, but couldn't see inside

Beautiful building from the outside but we couldn't see inside. This may have just been the time of the day.

Colorful as all temples, it overlooks a side of the hill, it's pretty, the kids are running to prayers, old ladies are climbing the stairs to go pray, it's caml and soothing.

This is a monastery with lot of colours for good Photo opportunity. The wind is very cold at the top. Peaceful location.

This place has recently turned touristy. And they are constantly adding on structures of structures. This looks like a bee hive only instead of bees monks keep coming out of their cubicles. Souvenirs are being sold near the gate with stern looking young monks scrutinising the tourists entering the premises. The monastery hosts a clinic for tibetian medicine. For the average tourist... Its a very big monastery on the way to Darjeeling. Proper maintenance is required, overall a good place to visit.

I visited them in Feb. Incidentally, there was a festival going at the time. This place has a restaurant and a gift shop. But somehow having looked at many monasteries, I was not very impressed.

Dali monastery (Druk Sangag Choling Monastery) is on Hill Cart Road on the way to the Old Ghoom and New Ghoom monasteries. The entry way wall art was in bamboo scaffolding and being re-painted when I arrived. It was on a weekend and there were many young monks around presumably released from classes for the day. It's a pleasant place.

This is a large and wonderful monastery, filled with students and senior monks. They were re-painting the entrance when I was there and I was able to have interesting conversations with the painter-monks about the images as well as their art training. The courtyard was filled with young monks playing hard cricket!
