It's a nice architectural marvel and the carvings in the temple are quite interesting. I went one evening and the crowds were pouring in like crazy. But it was efficiently handled and one could easily go up after placing sandals at the basement. Car parking could be quite a problem as the temple is bang in the middle of a... More

We visited the temple in the evening. The temple is not as grand as it looks in the pictures. It is quiet small yet just enough make you feel spacious and divine in the right amount. Why visit this place? Place is beautifully carved. Statues are huge and amazingly life like. 10 minutes are enough to see this place. Why... More

Kolkata is a colorful land where the old British masterpieces and contemporary architectural wonders exist in harmony. It is a unique city where one can experience traditional practices and enjoy contemporary lifestyle. As the air of spirituality dominates Kolkata's environment, one can find numerous temples dedicated to various Hindu deities here. One such architectural masterpiece that captures the attention of... Nice work in Marble....but in my opinion among other Birla temples such as the ones in Delhi or Hyderabad or Jaipur...it pales in comparison as a relaxing spot for the family. Grass gardens r missing....and there isnt much place to sit and relax....not on Kolkatas tourist map for sure....

It's now been refurbished, mobile not allowed inside. Shoes have to be left outside and the guards or caretakers will ask you for tips or money. So beware when they are appearing to be helpful. The temple is huge n dirt is now being cleaned. Not a must see, but it's nice to see.
