The beautiful premises of the Marble Palace house a large, private collection of antiques. For an art and history buff, wandering through its cool interiors might be an ideal way to spend a hot Kolkata afternoon—as long as one can keep one's annoyance with the staff in check. Although the place is not too well maintained, it is worth a... More

This magnificent building is certainly worth a visit to catch a glimpse of the days of the Raj and the British presence. You can see beautiful architecture and statues, including an impressive one of Queen Victoria in teak. Unfortunately no photos are allowed so you must carry the memory in your head!

What an amazing 'gone by era' palace. Not many people know about it, but it should be on your must see list. What an amazing collection of rare art pieces and the paintings that move and change directions as you move. Also don't miss the rare collection of birds. There's no entry fee but do give good tip to the... More

It's worth a short visit to see these rooms frozen in time. The inlaid marble floors and the glass, candle-powered chandeliers are amazing. If the paintings really are by Rubens and others of his ilk, it is a shame they are not being well cared for. If you don't have a pass from the tourist bureau you can tip the... More

This palace, although once belonged to a wealthy Indian business man is now a place of some very rude owners who I guess are living in a state of denial. Every forum or chat room you visit, you will see it is mentioned that their gurads are corrupt and take money from people if you don't have a pass but... More

Totally not what I expected, this place was absolutely breathtaking. The building itself it gorgeous, and it houses an exquisite collection of paintings and sculptures, curated from all over the world. I was absolutely in awe, walking through the interiors of this space. You need prior permission to enter, however we just showed up there and they let us look... More
