I love going out there during the winter when the cranes come in. Has a great viewing area and education center. If you are in Decatur area in the winter stop by.

The refuge is quite extensive with several unconnected units which can be accessed. Don't miss the visitor center and the observation building. The latter must be one of the largest in the country.

It's a quiet and peaceful place. Family friendly. There is a 10 minute film that is very good as an orientation. There is no admission fee.

The staff does a wonderful job sharing stories of interest about wildlife. Also pointed us to a wonderful price for admittance to all national parks for seniors.
