Booked an improved site but when we got to it thought we were in primitive camping. The campground roads would test an off road vehicle let alone our A class. Bathrooms had yellow caution tape around them!!!! And there was not one single redeeming feature we could see. There is a reason why they charge you a 3 day minimum... More

Recently spend the weekend at the Park, camping in one of their improved campsites. This is a great park, but you can tell it's been held back by State budget constraints due to the fact we have a Governor that has a "love for jet fuel" so he can fly around the state with his Mistress.... .. and had reduced... We enjoyed our weekend on the mountain. The views were stunning and the atmosphere was very relaxing. We hiked a couple of trails, ate breakfast at the hotel, and drove around the surrounding area. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. Our room was dated, but sufficient for our needs. The park itself needs some updating, but overall was... More

I must say that the claim of being the highest peak in Alabama did not impress me, until we stood on the peak in Cheaha Park and took in the amazing scenery of Northern Alabama. The drive in is easy and the road conditions are terrific. Although we didn't stay at the resort facilities, the park is very clean and... More

This state park is a 2800-acre mountain top resort located in the center of Talladega National Forest. In operation since 1933, it is the oldest operating state park. There are facilities and activities for the whole family or just a good quiet place to get away, hike, etc. I heard of this place with a restaurant on top of the... More

Chaeta park is beautiful any time of year. Autumn the leaves are breathtaking. In the summer the lake is fun and the water cold. Primitive camping sites, cabins and larger chalets. Also a lodge and restaurant.

We like Cheaha because it is not a far drive from Birmingham for a weekend away. We like the deluxe honeymoon cabins, but would prefer they have a king size bed. The hotel does offer kings. The views are pretty on a clear day. Lots of trails to hike. A nice pool for the summer. Cabin sites come with fire... More

We stayed at campground for 5 nights. Great scenery. Bathrooms were clean. So many trails. We camped in a pop-up with our 3 dogs. Took dogs on some trails. Some trails we went alone as some would have been too rough for dogs. Great views of mountains. We hiked to Cheaha Falls and High Falls- you don't want to miss... More

We spent three nights camping at Cheaha, and did some hiking in the park as well as in the Talladega National Forest which is adjacent. Really lovely scenery, and the park boasts the highest point in Alabama, with the views you might expect from such a vantage point. There are also many vestiges of CCC projects that were done at... The different roads leading to the park are neat, clean and labeled. There are two scenic areas to take photos or just observe their beauty. The trails are easy to climb and the arrival at the highest point, is totally orgasmic.
