Fairhope Satsuma Blossom Queen

Very informative history of Fairhope. There's a fire station with a fire truck and a jail in the museum. Saw the coronation of the Satsuma Blossom Queen, Miss Becky.

There is always something new to learn here. Every time I go there is something new. The volunteers are very knowledgeable but also enthusiastic which is a nice bonus.

This building is the original fire station, police station and jail, mayor's office, etc. It is staffed by very knowledgeable volunteers eager to tell you about the history of their town. You can learn about the 'single tax' origins of Fairhope and the industries that supported it, see some amazing wooden sculptures from a local, but nationally recognized artist, and... More

A great place to visit with grandchildren. My three grandsons had a wonderful time, they did ot want to leave. Unlocking the jail cell was a big hit. Perfect day.

Few small museums can boast of first class displays and very knowledgable host/docents to tell the story of an interesting community like Fairhope. I may get to go again.

Every aspect of the local history is covered on both floors of the original town hall building (once mayor's office, police dept., jail, and fire dept. all together), including a garaged working 1935 fire engine and a "people's train" car reproduction outside. Photos, videos and display cases contain explanations and memorabilia of living here over the decades. I never knew... More

You have got to stop at this museum. The director is so personable and lively. He drew us into this place which I fell in love with. The museum is the old jail and firehouse which you can still see. There are displays which walk you through the history of this single tax community.

The local guides have so much pride as they tell you about the history of this community. Make sure you visit both floors and the fire station.

This is the old firehouse and jail. There still is a period firetruck in the garage and the jail cells are still as inviting as they were back in the day when they really housed guests. There are many and varied exhibits dealing with Fairhope's mayors, history and culture. This is a wonderful way to spend a hot afternoon (due to... More
