Gulf State Park's two miles of beaches greet you with plenty of white sun-kissed sand, surging surf, seagulls and sea shells, but there is more than sand and surf to sink your toes into. Inside Gulf State Park there is a championship golf course, new beach pavilion, rental cottages, tennis courts, camp sites, hiking trails, Zip Line, and a fishing pier that is 20-feet wide and extends 1,512 feet into the Gulf. This and much more make Gulf State Park the perfect in-state vacation or out-of-state adventure.

Relatively natural trail system. Moderately kept up. Some boardwalk areas over swampy ground. Lots of new restoration work taking place, much of the park is not viewable at this time. Has a relatively large RV campground area. Buildings appear clean and well-kept. Water level is low during our visit, did not see any alligators.

We were staying in the Gulf Shores area and attended a staff-led talk on turtles (after seeing the program on the park's calendar) that was great! Our young kids (ages 6 and 2) enjoyed the Nature Center animals, including the turtle Homer who's given free-range there. The talk lasted about an hour (only our 6 yr old made it through... More

The best investment that the state of Alabama has ever made is in the development of a state of the art bike route in their state park. Riding these numerous trails is a sheer delight. Shrouded in shady oak trees along winding up and down smooth, asphalt trails observing nature in the wild is phenomenal. There are restrooms, benches, swings,... More

My wife and I visited the beaches and pier at the Gulf State Park today. We had a great time and the facilities were well maintained. There was a reception being set up for a wedding and it appeared that two weddings were being setup to take place on the beach. The beach was well maintained and beautiful and we... More

The sand is white, the surf is not very rough and there is no seaweed. This is a nice place to visit. There are not many shells that are complete and if you want to bodyboard the waves are not big enough, but it is a gradual incline in the water and it feels like a nice place to splash.... More

Great distance between sites, daily activities, great pool, super fishing pier, miles of bike trails, friendly (?) alligators, friendlier staff, great seafood in area. We lived it and are going back for two months.

We rode the bike trails about every other day for 11 weeks. We could easily ride 25 miles without riding the same path twice! The surface is nicely paved and there are many wooden bridges over wet areas. You must stop and see "Lefty", one of the resident alligators. She had five or six babies nearby. There are other alligators... More
