Enjoying the panorama view from the porch of the CCC built cabin at Monte Sano S.P. returns one to days of simplicity. The clean efficient studio meets basic standards - though the dark interior deters evening reading. The park's trails are well worn and marked clearly - mainly occupied by bicyclists. A nice retreat for weary travelers.

I call myself an avid trail runner even though I'm not currently able to partake in my passion. The trails on MS are well maintained and the bathrooms are always clean and well stocked (not to mention they are climate controlled!). I have an annual membership and would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who uses the park with any regularity.

One our several fun Alabama State Parks – I visit it at least once a month, more when I can. The famous Von Braun Astronomical Society (VBAS) is located in the park. They usually have a planetarium show almost every Saturday night. This is the same observatory that assisted NASA in locating a suitable moon landing site. The historic 21... More

Have enjoyed the park for decades. Not much to do in comparison to other state parks and cabins are indeed 'rustic'

We found this park by accident but I am so glad we did. There are lots of trails, a very nice playground my kids had fun on and we even stumbled upon a little waterfall while we were there. Would love to go back there and explore more to see what else we can find.

The state park is on the mountain and they have camp sites for both RV and tents. They also have cabins, I prefer using my tent. The sites have water and electric. There are lots of trails to choose from for either hiking or biking. Lots of trees. They do not have a swimming pool nor a lake for swimming... More

We stayed for one night at Monte Sano S.P. When we were driving through Alabama. We really enjoyed staying and wished we could have stayed longer. We had spot #55. It has amazing views. We watched the sunset from our picnic table. It was a nice lot, but it wasn't exactly level for our travel trailer, but we made it... More
