We visited the place and there is no entry fee. Once inside, we saw manuscripts, video tapes, films and slides depicting events leading to Malaysia's independence in 1957. We shed tears when we saw Tuanku Abdul Rahman proclaimed the words 'Merdeka,Merdeka, Merdeka' at Merdeka Square.

The building is quite amazingly built. It is one of the best places in Melaka for those who love architecture. It is located very close to the A' Famosa.

If you are interested in the history of Malaysia, this is the place to be. Entrance is free and everything is well explained. If you already visited the national museum in Kuala Lumpur: this museum tells the same story about the independence, but much more in detail.

As a Portuguese myself, I was curious about the colonial history of Melaka and this memorial, with lots of detailed information, taught me some new things. Worth the visit! Oh and it's free and there is air conditioning!

Definitely a must visit if you are in Melaka. This memorial shows a lot of history about the formation of the state of Malaysia, with a lot of little details. Entrance is free.

This used to be the old Malacca Club whose paying members were mainly local dignitaries and expats. We found the outside more interesting than the time spent inside!

The Independence is just opposite the Al Famosa gateway to St, Paul Hill. This place as well as Al Famosa and St, Paul Hill are often full of tourists. Within the Independence Memorial, we are able to see many articles regarding the Independence of Malaysia and especially the "Car" used by our First Prime Minister of Malaysia Tungku Abdul Rahman.

To every country, the building for dependance is alway very important for permanent memorial. Actually I like much more the unique architectural design of the building. If you go melaka, you must have a look there
