Lively part of town....

When in Melaka you must take a walk through Chinatown. It simply buzzes with activity. There are Chinese temples and shops with so many different things for sale.

Absolutely love the ancient Chinese Temples and their drama. It's quite pronounced here, as the Chinese involvement runs back centuries. Chinese New Year is just winding down now and between the crowds, the food, the fireworks and excitement it was a fine place to be for the holiday.

AKA Jonker street, the Melaka china town covers the area of Jonker street and the nearby streets containing the Cheng Horn temple and the Kampung Kling mosque. The area is known for local food (with long queues) and antiques and crafts sellers. A nice walk although overcrowded with tourists. The place remains original and interesting for now with many craft... More

Lots of nice old Chinese style architecture. Some antique shops, lots of junk stores. Plenty of food to eat, the street is closed to traffic on Friday and weekend evenings.

Chinatown in Melaka does have the distinction of being confined to a relatively small area and to be constructed of some buildings with historic interest and of architectural significance. It would have helped to appreciate all that if the narrow... More

It links to Jonker street if you scroll through the streets, I would recommend taking a look at the local shop houses to get souvenirs or see cool stuffs as it will be closed at night.

I wrote in a previous review about Jonker Street, so this is pretty much the same! Just a simple reminder, it is a no smoke zone!

It nice to walk in a with old idea of market and people which are providing food, hoods and smile. The old architecture, Chinese decoration and lifestyle is nice to visit and observe.
