More
The Mobile Museum of Art includes a permanent collection of approximately 10,000 works of fine and decorative arts from America, Asia, and Europe, spanning periods from classical antiquity to the present day. The Museum is supported by a unique public/private partnership of city and community support; its facility is owned by the city of Mobile, and the art collection is privately owned.Founded in 1964, MMofA has grown from a modest initiative of The Board of Commissioners of the City of Mobile and two private arts entities, the Allied Arts Council, and the Mobile Arts Association, to the only accredited art museum in southern Alabama.

Have lived in Mobile since 2010 and have found this museum to be consistently inventive in their choices of exhibitions with an emphasis on regional work of quality. They have a pretty comprehensive collection of glass art for such a small museum as well as...More

I am not really a fan of art or art museums but this museum was beautifully spread out over three floors overlooking the bay. Didn't really spend much time looking around here because it does not interest me that much.

I visted the Mobile Museum of Art and was pleasantly surprised. It is a very pretty museum with 3 floors and a great outdoor view of the Mobile Bay. There was a Christenberry photography exhibit and local photography exhibit. I always appreciate when an area...More

On the first Thursday of the month Mobile Museum of Art hosts a market from 5pm to 9pm with crafters' and artists' selling their wares. Go early, make friends, there is an outside foodie truck, wine and beer inside. Just a lovely experience.

I have been to several very good exhibits there and found it a beautiful museum with wonderful displays of art. Two of the exhibits I saw were children's book illustrations and illuminated bible pages.

Was surprised to only see a couple of paintings. Featured local artist was nice but, had hoped to see more variety.

My brother-in-law and I visited this museum this morning, and we were the only guests. This is a very good regional museum. Allow at least 2 (two) hours; if you are pressed for time, concentrate on the CHRISTENBERRY photography exhibits (of rural Alabama) and Asian...More

The museum has many fine art and decorative pieces. The Bicentennial (2017-2019) celebrates the artwork and life of an Alabama native - William A. Christenberry. The museum shows you all about the artist's family. Whittling, quilt making, wood carvings, paintings, wonderful photography, and so much...More

The Mobile Museum of Art is an average art museum. The building architecture is more interesting than the collection which is rather modest but nevertheless still worth a visit

Upon arrival we learned that the museum was in a time of changing displays and only about 1/2 the gallery was open. I found some pieces that I enjoyed and was especially impressed with the Asian Art section. Not large but what they had were...More
