Look for the Napoleon Death Mask

Excellent museum with lots of interesting things to see. Allow about 2 hours ... and look for the Napoleon Death Mask that is tucked away upstairs.

Not being from the area, i wanted to get a good feel for the history of the area. Oh my gosh, the museum of mobile was amazing. I highly recommend keeping an open mind & stopping by. Do some reading & walk through the museum and allow yourself to be drawn to the the topics that interest you.

This is a nice museum and a great way to learn about the history of Mobile. It is entertaining for both adults and pre-teens. Recommended for all.

I did enjoy visiting this museum very much but it is definitely for History buffs. It's a wonderful museum full of Mobile's long history, under many flags, including French, British, and Spanish. It was founded by the French in 1702, and some don't know but It was the home of the first Mardi Gras in 1935 even thou New Orelans... More

The History Museum is one of the best ways to learn about Mobiles Legacy. This museum is in the old city hall and convenient to downtown hotels. Exhibits change often so there is always something new on display.

This was the former City facilities in Mobile. It was a bit difficult to get into due to construction, but it was worth the effort. Parking was a bit of a problem but we soon found an inexpensive parking lot and walked just a block. The museum provides a really nice history of Mobile and is in a beautiful old... More

This is a great museum to get a feel for the history of the area and Mobile. There is parking just up the road. Its $10 to visit. The building itself reeks of history. The floors are polished marble with high windows. Lots and lots to see. We especially liked the civil war section and the info about the civil... More

Attended a reception here and checked out the exhibits as part of that. Some of the exhibits were predictable and nothing particularly engaging. But still a good overview history of the region, and an interesting building.

From prehistoric natives, French, Spanish and English Settlers through modern times see interesting artifacts. The building itself is historical. Parking was free.

Terrific museum with great displays. The miniature houses were so cool and our kids just moved to Mobile so it was great to have the background of the town. We took 2 hours and could have spent more time since the displays cover so much- carnival, the wars, ship building, oysters and early history. Very inexpensive and worthwhile.
