Great exhibits, Great staff!
Jun. 2021 • Family
There were so many things to do! Most exhibits and hands-on activities were still open, but they did provide many many hand sanitizing stations throughout the museam. This museam has something to keep people of all ages entertained. Every staff member we came on contact with loved their job, and were friendly and helpful. We would definitely reccomend this museam to anyone!

Plumbing the Depths of the Gulf of Mexico

This Gulf of Mexico museums covers all things nautical. Even the tile in the bathrooms have tiles with the alphabet flags used by seamen. The exhibits talk about everything from ocean currents to underground volcanoes. Although they were not all operational, there are several hands-on exhibits that could be enjoyed by adults and kids alike. One unique feature are the small plaques on the ramps from level to level with well-known words and phrases that have a nautical origin, such as bitter end, make a clean sweep, and mind your Ps and Qs.

Better than expected
May 2021 • Family
The place was much bigger than we anticipated. We arrived with about 3 hours till close expecting to still have time to spare. In actuality we only covered about half the area and was still very pleased with our ticket price.

All Aboard!!

A Mobile, Alabama Do Not Miss sensory museum that presents the maritime past and present. Allow a 2 hour experience and be sure to pilot a vessel through the canal or slide through the waters on a tug. Check out the Globe as past weather and natural volcanic activity fast-forwards for an overall view of the living planet. Great guide with generations of family history on the water.

Great for 12 & up- worth the time!

We went with another couple. We made a reservation for 1:00. The tour last one and half hours but we stayed for 2 hours. Gabe, the guide, met us at the entrance and I was surprised to find out that he would be taking us from one floor to another(5) explaining the exhibits and allowing us time to explore them as we walked through. It was very informative and interesting. There are different modes of taking in the information via visual, auditory and the hands on stations. There is hand sanitizer on each floor and masks are required. I throughly enjoyed learning about Mobile bay- the history and its significance to the world. I would recommend this to people 12 and older. We walked on wide ramps from one floor to another but there are elevators as well. It looked as if they had a cafe but it was closed. There is a vending machine near the large clean bathrooms. Our guide Gabe is a young man who grew up in mobile and was an excellent guide!

It's a wonder that more people don't take in the historical value of the area..

Fabulous-- like you are on a freighter!

GO visit during Covid! They are doing so much to manage risk and clean-- I was completely at ease! It was interactive and enlightening. Very well done and inexpensive. My husband and I had a personally guided tour from Khaela and she was perfect! She let us spend time on the things that interested us and even managed to make the things that we weren't interested in interesting! She took us through the place like a champ and knew so much history and facts-- it was a blast. We loved it and definitely recommend it. There's a simulator so you can test your skills and a deck with 360 views of Mobile. Plan to spend several hours.

A great experience!
Aug. 2020 • Family
I was a little worried because, due to Covid, some parts of the museum were unavailable. BUT our tour was great! From the moment we stepped through the door, the staff was friendly and welcoming. Kayla was our tour guide and she was fantastic. She explained the exhibits, answered questions and allowed us plenty of time to look around and see everything. The tour took maybe an hour and a half, but that was plenty of time. Masks were required while inside, hand sanitizer was plentiful and the number of guests at a time was limited. My family includes 14 and 11 year old boys, who both enjoyed the museum. I’d recommend it for sure.
