It was a little bit of a trip and we drove about 30 minutes to get here from downtown. It is one of the older sections and I could see how it could have actually been a different town before Shanghai became so large. The...More

I have decided to visit this hidden gem after read good reviews from tripadvisors. It was definitely a off beaten path with lesser crowd during week day. It was quite a short walk from Line 11 - Nan Xiang, probably about 15 mins. This is...More

Pretty cool place to walk around and explore. We stumbled into a fairly large indoor flea market and that was fun. Read that xiaolongbao originated here and that's interesting. If come by metro line 11 it's easy to leave out station exit 2 and get...More

Nanxiang is not a place you will find in tourist trips like "Shanghai in 48 hours". And it takes you also some time to find this old street, hidden among new buildings. But it is interesting, maybe too much business oriented but still showing you...More

Not a place to spend too long getting to but if you are close it is worth a couple of hours. It is only 15 minutes walk from the line 11 metro station but not well signposted. Many of the "old" building have been restored...More

To give you a different perspective on Shanghai, you should visit one of the old towns around Shanghai. This is an easy one to get to via metro line 11. A good way to see some more authentic Shanghai life.

Go there by metro line 11, you can either take a cab or Nanxiang bus no.5 after coming down from the metro station. Must try their xiao long bao.

You get better idea of old chinese traditions in this street. Keep them in your memory through lots of pictures. Lots of tourists are visible here. Very unique and maintained nicely by shanghai Authorities.

I went there by Metro so hard to say about the drive. I don't speak any Mandarin but it was still a lovely day so I wouldn't be worried.
