One of the biggest railway station I have ever seen. Very huge and equally systematic. Very crowded. Mostly for high speed bullet trains. Better to reach 1-1.5 hrs before departure of your train. Very close to Hongqiao Airport.

We were taking the express train to Hangzhou from this station. It’s really easy to navigate and find the platforms. And the express trains are very clean and comfortable.

Bullet from Beijing comes here. Grand station like an airport. From here take line two subway to city. Must have more information desks.

It is big, though crowded station. Be prepared for some leadtime if you plan to buy the train tickets at the spot.

well organized, and easy to find what you need. Seems like they have everything under control. Maybe it could use some more food vending places.

Traveling during Chinese new year, we were cautioned and warned that the trains and train stations would be a total nightmare. But we found this completely untrue. Shanghai Hongqiao certainly was crowded, but there were many seats to await the trains, some of them quite...More

Very busy, but everything is well marked. I would not hesitate to use the station again. The bullet train ride is worth it all by itself.

Since you will not know which track the train will arrive on, the best landmark will be at the Shanghai Metro Ticket Machines. This is across the aisle from the exit gates. Your friend will need his/her ticket to clear the... More
